Best Western Lamphey Court Hotel

We decided on the spur of the moment to book a last minute break and we were not disappointed. This Hotel is set in beautiful grounds, an old country house with all the elegance that comes with it. Plenty of parking, a fabulous swimming pool and leisure centre just a few yards away. Very good food for breakfast and evening ( they do full cooked breakfast although it doesn't say so on the website) and if you only have a small appetite, make sure that you say exactly what you want ie: only 1 slice of toast with scrambled egg unless you actually want 2 etc, the portions are very large. Very central for exploring Pembrokeshire. AND the most comfy bed that I have ever slept in!! My only negative is that on the picture of the room on the website for the deluxe room, it does show a nice bowl of fruit etc. As you are paying more for this room I thought that was included, it's not. Maybe they should alter their picture!
OYO Lamphey Hall Hotel

Having stayed at Lamphey Hall Hotel a few years ago when the previous owners had it, we decided to spend a night there. When we arrived, we found our way to reception to pick up the key. The area looked dark and smelt musty. My partner had been sent an email confirming our stay and a photo of the room we were having. We got to our room which was quite small but it looked ok. It was nothing like the one we were meant to have had. Some of the lights didn’t work and the bathroom could have done with a good clean! There was black mouldy bits on the tile grouting that came off when we showered. We had food in their “bistro” that night. It was more like a greasy cafe! The chip fat was clearly old as it had a strong taste to it. The gammon was nice but the salad garnish was hardly there!! The waitress spent most of the time chatting to her mate who was sat a couple of tables away from us. The decor was black and dark blue. Not very enticing! As it has been taken over by new people, the decor has been changed. Everywhere looks cheap and tacky. To be honest, the whole place looks very run down. It was sad to see it in this state. We paid extra for breakfast which didn’t look appetising at all. There was a help yourself to cereal etc section which was mostly all covered with cling film apart from the one thing that should have been. I fancied yoghurt but since it was just sitting there unchilled and uncovered in a large bowl I gave it a miss. We ordered toast which came out cold and dry. It had obviously been made hours earlier. The waitress was dressed in a tracksuit and kept wiping her nose on the collar of her jacket! All in all, it was a very disappointing stay. Felt sad as it used to be a beautiful place to stay with character and always a warm welcome from the previous owner. Now it’s lost everything it used to have and is run by kids who haven’t got a clue! What a shame!
