The Hotel Norman is a brand new refit of an older hotel. The mid century design is cozy and inviting. The public spaces and our room were beautifully appointed. The staff were all very eager and helpful, if still a bit wobbly, the hotel having just opened in September. Our junior suite was the perfect size for a couple. You won’t find a nicer or larger room with a separate sitting area, separated by doors, at this price point. In fact, if you’re looking for a true suite, the Norman’s junior suite with doors is technically a suite. The room has a nice big balcony that overlooks some other courtyards. Not an incredible view, but dead quiet, and nice and bright. The bathroom is great. Dual sinks. Good hot water. Strong walk in rain shower. Another nice feature is the very large (by Paris standards) walk in closet. Tons of storage space. So nice not to live out of suitcases on a bench at the end of the bed. While quiet and spacious, the benefit of a suite for us is the ability for one of us to sleep while the other reads or watches TV in a separate room. Unfortunately the lighting scheme in or room made this tricky, as all the lamps and room lights turn on and off via wall switches in the living area AND the bedroom. They are not independent circuits. This forced us to unscrew a lightbulb so my wife could sleep. If you don’t require darkness in one room and light in another, this won’t be an issue for you. But I was told the lighting in all the suites was likely wired this way. We were graciously given a bottle of champagne simply for pointing out this electrical oversight. Thanks guys! Breakfast was delicious. The hotel works with an excellent boulangerie and serves light crispy croissants and pain au chocolate as good as any I’ve had. The coffee is tasty if a bit too weak. Beyond the lighting issues in the room, there’s not a lot to complain about at the current price. A faster elevator that doesn’t feel so ****y would be nice. All in a, small polished hotel with friendly attentive service, on a quiet serene block, steps away from the chaos of the Champs Elysee. Book it before it gets popular and the prices go up!
