Mercure Palermo Centro

An absolutely terrible hotel, it's hard to believe this is a Mercure, a global chain. It's not far from the old town, but the hotel itself is old and run-down. The duvet and pillows in the room were yellowed, and the towels were torn and old. The room was stuffy and hot. If you opened the window, it was incredibly noisy due to the street. The air conditioning only runs from 10:30 PM to 7 AM, and you have to call the front desk every single time to turn it on. We stayed for three days, and only received one bottle of water on the first day; none for the following two days. At check-in, the front desk quoted 20 euros per night for parking, but at check-out, it mysteriously became 30 euros per night. This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in, with poor facilities and service, yet it costs nearly 2000 RMB per night. Italians are truly masters at ripping people off!

First off, the price was amazing! Just over 300 for a night, including breakfast, that's incredibly cheap. I tried to book again later and the price had gone up. Getting there was easy too. I took the airport bus to the station and it was just a few minutes' walk from there. Facilities: The room was spacious and even had a corner balcony. The breakfast selection was pretty good, and they even had cannoli!
