We booked this hotel as the reviews looked good. We were on a 2 night walking holiday and there is good access to the Cotswold Way from the hotel. The location was good as Painswick is very pretty and just opposite the church. The facilities were okay. We didn't get to eat there so cannot comment on the food. As soon as we arrived and checked in at 6pm we had to shout to be heard above the live music. He was a very good singer but not appropriate in such a small space. I couldn't hear a word anyone was saying as I inquired about breakfast etc as the singer was in reception. A very strange checking in process. The one night we were there was horrendous. At 9pm we heard lots of commotion in the room next to us; screaming, shouting, abusive language, slamming doors, things being banged around and a dog whining and howling. This was continuous so my sister went down to reception and informed the staff member on duty about the noise. He said to let them know if it got any worse and said that one of the men had special needs. The noise and abusive language continued as the men roamed around the hotel. At 11pm I heard them outside our room so I asked politely if they could please keep the noise down. They said they would. They didn't. By midnight we'd had enough. We didn't feel safe and couldn't sleep. After going downstairs and not being able to find anyone to help us we called all 4 emergency contacts in the information book. No one answered. I called repeatedly and finally got hold of someone called Danielle. I explained what was going on and she said I'll contact the staff member onsite and ask him to assist you. I called back and she said she hadn't been able to wake him. I said that we were worried due to the level of aggression we could hear and the fact we couldn't get any sleep. She said she didn't know what to do and to contact the police if we felt unsafe. I suggested that we move rooms. She told us to go downstairs, go into the kitchen and get a key for room 10 which was in separate accommodation. We packed up our entire room and did this. On the way downstairs we encountered one of the men standing outside the unlocked side door. He shouted repeatedly at us 'where are you going!' And proceeded to follow us. We stood in our pyjamas by the bins in the dark carpark waiting for him to leave so we could go and let ourselves into our new room. Once he had gone, we went to room 10 and unlocked the door to find a person fast asleep in one of the beds. We closed the door before we woke them up. We sat in our pjs with all of our belongings in the hallway. We felt unable to go outside in the rain as the men were freely roaming around the unlocked hotel and bar, presumably with access to all of the keys, the kitchen, the bar and rooms if they so wished. We called Danielle again (she did very well considering it was all left to her). She drove to the hotel and said that all of the rooms were occupied and that room 10 was empty on the system. She a
