Every single element of the different dishes we sampled was cooked perfectly. The service was friendly, professional and swift. The restaurant is under relatively new management and they should be congratulated. Highly recommended, competitively priced, unpretentious and a delicious selection of dishes. Our experience contrasted dramatically with the poor offering and unfriendly atmosphere at the nearby bistro which should be avoided at all costs.

Very friendly staff and great food in the centre of Painswick. Our host at our B&B was a bit doubtful about the pub but it was excellent I had the tagine which was very tasty and my friend had the liver which was done to perfection. Desserts were equally good. The service was efficient as well

We had two excellent nights at this very comfortable and well run traditional pub in lovely village. The rooms are very comfortable and the staff extremely helpful and friendly. We had first class food in the very pleasant restaurant. A really very good venue for a super walking weekend. Thank you all at The Falcon.

We booked this hotel as the reviews looked good. We were on a 2 night walking holiday and there is good access to the Cotswold Way from the hotel. The location was good as Painswick is very pretty and just opposite the church. The facilities were okay. We didn't get to eat there so cannot comment on the food. As soon as we arrived and checked in at 6pm we had to shout to be heard above the live music. He was a very good singer but not appropriate in such a small space. I couldn't hear a word anyone was saying as I inquired about breakfast etc as the singer was in reception. A very strange checking in process. The one night we were there was horrendous. At 9pm we heard lots of commotion in the room next to us; screaming, shouting, abusive language, slamming doors, things being banged around and a dog whining and howling. This was continuous so my sister went down to reception and informed the staff member on duty about the noise. He said to let them know if it got any worse and said that one of the men had special needs. The noise and abusive language continued as the men roamed around the hotel. At 11pm I heard them outside our room so I asked politely if they could please keep the noise down. They said they would. They didn't. By midnight we'd had enough. We didn't feel safe and couldn't sleep. After going downstairs and not being able to find anyone to help us we called all 4 emergency contacts in the information book. No one answered. I called repeatedly and finally got hold of someone called Danielle. I explained what was going on and she said I'll contact the staff member onsite and ask him to assist you. I called back and she said she hadn't been able to wake him. I said that we were worried due to the level of aggression we could hear and the fact we couldn't get any sleep. She said she didn't know what to do and to contact the police if we felt unsafe. I suggested that we move rooms. She told us to go downstairs, go into the kitchen and get a key for room 10 which was in separate accommodation. We packed up our entire room and did this. On the way downstairs we encountered one of the men standing outside the unlocked side door. He shouted repeatedly at us 'where are you going!' And proceeded to follow us. We stood in our pyjamas by the bins in the dark carpark waiting for him to leave so we could go and let ourselves into our new room. Once he had gone, we went to room 10 and unlocked the door to find a person fast asleep in one of the beds. We closed the door before we woke them up. We sat in our pjs with all of our belongings in the hallway. We felt unable to go outside in the rain as the men were freely roaming around the unlocked hotel and bar, presumably with access to all of the keys, the kitchen, the bar and rooms if they so wished. We called Danielle again (she did very well considering it was all left to her). She drove to the hotel and said that all of the rooms were occupied and that room 10 was empty on the system. She a

Booked through ******* , no breakfast included despite saying so on the description. Embarrassing to query and not resolved either by ******* or the duty manager that night . Sorted the next morning but left a sour taste as we were made to feel that the issue was our fault and it most definitely wasn’t. It’s a nice place but after 5 visits this event means we probably won’t return. Why don’t hotels just price honestly so that we get the best price from them direct? ******* were cheaper so it made no sense to book direct .

We had several fantastic meals in the Falcon hotel restaurant while staying in B&B in village of Painswick. Staff are engaging & friendly, food was fantastic, great quality, served quickly & hot fresh tasty meals. Lauren & Ollie are really helpful & great characters, we had transport issue when bus was cancelled for Cheltenham races & they helped with taxi details & made sure we got to our day out.

We visited on a Saturday evening but there were many empty tables for some reason, so we hadn’t needed to book. Service was good, one of the waitresses was excellent. The food was pretty good: my ham eggs and chips was good although the fried egg was overcooked. My partner’s Venison pie was very good, in fact I think I would go for one of the range of pies if we went again.

My husband thinks I am being generous with two stars, so that should tell you all you need to know! Currently on our way home from a one night stay at The Falcon and we won’t be back. The positives Big room Clean Breakfast was lovely but very basic no pastries and had to ask for water more than once! Hot water (you would think a given but mindful of many of the reviews on here) Friendly staff Car park The negatives Despite it being December and very cold and wet not a single fire was lit! Slow service Room not as described (booked junior suite odd room layout and no little luxuries as described when I booked) No coffee machine No bottled water in room (can’t source I was told!) No atmosphere in bar or restaurant Tv in room in odd position with no swivel And last but not least the evening meal…. In my lifetime I have never seen beef like it!! The rest of the roast was ok, only two potatoes but the beef goodness it was beyond pink, beyond fatty and you couldn’t cut it let alone taste it!! We did complain and rightly so we did not pay for it. Would not recommend at all. Far nicer places to stay in the Cotswolds don’t waste your money go elsewhere to stay and to eat!!
