The hotel was much better than I imagined. A great stay for Christmas. A very comfortable stay, reception very helpful. My e.u 2 point plug didn't fit as swiss is 3 point plug and Reception lent me their convertor plug the whole duration.. i took the half board option as we went for skiing and travelling and would sometimes be out in the day. The breakfast was plentiful. A range of continental and bacon and eggs. Various options for evening meal. Good location, with great views and a short 10 minute walk to the slopes, however there is a free bus to go up and down to Leysin village . A 10 minute walk to the train station in the opposite direction. We tried the toboggan park whilst there too. I travelled as a single female with 2 children and my stay couldn't of been more welcoming and at ease.

Having previously stayed in chalets for our family ski holidays (our son is now 9) we felt a hotel would fit our needs better for our 5 night stay. I found this hotel on the internet, booked direcetly as it offered the best price. We did our own transfers from Geneva airport using the train, then changing to the tram in Bex, the hotel did point out before arrival that the train to Aigle then the bus was slightly quicker, but we prefered the tram option. This was all easy to book on line with the swiss train network and is much more cost effective than a car/taxi transfer. Our was around £150 return for the 3 of us. We also booked our ski pass, ski hire and our sons ski lessons directly on line, the hotel did offer on our arrival but I'm sure it would have been at a premium. On arriving at 2pm our room wasn't quite ready, as check in was from 3pm. But this did give us opportunity to collect our ski passes from one of the automated machines using the QR code, and collect our hired skis from the shop next to the hotel 'Sports House' who were very friendly and helpful. The hotel has ski lockers for your boots and skis Once checked in we took our suitcases to our room, (there wasn't an offer of any help) having been up since 3am and clearly looking tired! Our room was a superior double (single beds pushed together) and a camp type bed for our 9 year old son. I had read that some found the hotel noisy, our room was on the -0 level just 1 storey high, so nobody above and hardly and passing people so it was perfect and quiet, other than party goers coming home at 2 am most mornings (not the hotels fault) The room was beautiful, spacious and clean. Strangley in the lobby/wardrobe area it had a fabulous tiny kitchen with a microwave, full sized undercounter fridge, hob and sink. There was 4 plates, bowls and cutlery but no kettle or pans. We used the fridge to cool the water etc. I would be lovely if they included a kettle, but I guess they want the spend in the hotel not people making tea and coffee in the room. Breakfast was delicous, and a good choice of hot/cold. The ski lift was a short bus ride away, the bus stop just outside the hotel, so easy to get to the lifts. We ate out at local resturants all but 1 evening when we ate at Peppino's, the pizza was very nice indeed. We had hot chocolates in the hotel bar on two occasions, and got overcharged on both occasions, until I pointed out the error. We used the swimming pool 3 times, it was lovely to swim after a day on the slopes, the hotel provided dressing gowns and towels. Our room was cleaned each day by the time we got back in from skiing, we did end up with a huge amount of towels, they left clean but never took used away! The hotel loaction for the village is excellent, a few minutes walk to the local resturants and the co-op. We booked this suite direct after contacting the hotel asking for room rates & availability. They suggested the suite would suit our family group (myself, partner & 2 girls in their 20s). They were right. The suite had a large room with king size bed, sofa / lounge area with TV & balcony with a fabulous view of the mountains. Another large room with 2 single beds & TV was great for the girls & we shared a well appointed bathroom with bath & shower. We were together but had plenty of space. Everything was tastefully decorated & super comfortable. We opted for breakfast at the reduced ‘book ahead’ rate which was good value, but would have been perfect with a hot option of bacon and / or sausage. The hotel is very conveniently located opposite the cog railway to the ski slopes. It had a good heated ski / boot room & free parking right outside the hotel. Staff are friendly & attentive. We booked reduced rate tickets to the Villars Spa which was lovely & a short walk away. The hotel provided towels. We enjoyed a meal in the hotel on one evening which was lovely & reasonable value with the included side dishes. Hotel & restaurant highly recommended & would definitely book again.

Family of 5 (kids 10, 11, 13). The transfer from Geneva was 1 hour 20, very easy. From the moment you arrive you are made to feel so welcome, the chalet is simply gorgeous and magical as it was dressed for the festive period (our stay was 28 Dec to 2 Jan). The layout is easy to get around. Beautiful bar and lounge area serving a range of foods. We had two interconnecting junior suites which are huge and have plenty of room. TV has British channels and ability to beam your phone for netflix etc. Wifi very good. Games rooms for kids and adults. There are several restaurants in the hotel and plenty of great restaurants in town which the hotel can book. If coming during February half term, I would suggest booking ahead. The spa is phenomenal. I would highly recommend emailing them to book in advance especially at peak times like February half term or Christmas and New Year as they get booked ahead of time so avoid being disappointed - there was little to no availability for walk in’s. The pool is lovely too. Dressing gowns and slippers are all in the rooms. Lift passes - get from hotel reception. We hadn’t pre-booked skis but this was straightforward. There is a rental place at the top of the mountain. The train stop is directly opposite the chalet and takes 15 mins to the slopes. Very easy. I would also recommend booking a locker in the ski shop so you don’t have to traipse with skis and boots / it’s a godsend and about 25chf per day and it fits 6 persons gear. Well worth it. We hired an instructor from ESS in advance. There are several restaurants on the slopes but a very popular one is Hotel du Lac / again book ahead or book for the following day. Great family restaurant. All in all it’s an amazing hotel with top notch service - you cannot go wrong and we will return.

I'm so glad that hostel is open again. Unfortunately only the reception area was renovated. The breakfast room still has no windows and the bedroom got really hot. Hostel is located very close to the lake but behind the train tracks so it can get loud in the room. We booked a double room but got a room for 4 with 2 bunk beds. It was okay for us but would have not been nice if travelling as a couple. it can be noisy at night also from the hallways. Room was ok clean but there were lots of stains on the floor that would've been very easy to clean. Price was very high for a hostel but that's maybe due to the Jazz Festival. Good to know: This hostel doesn't have a shared kitchen for its guests.

A very disppointing experience from start to finish. We spent 3 days wishing we had chosen a different hotel but unable to leave as we had pre-paid a package to celebrate my wife’s birthday. It started badly as we arrived on a very hot day (34°) to be allocated a stifling hot room in which all the lights had been left on and the sun shade not drawn. Reception advised that the room had a fan (in the absence of air conditioning) but there was none to be found! A small desk fan was brought up to the room later in the afternoon. Our room remained hotter inside than outside for the entire stay. Dinner that evening was not a pleasant experience. The staff were dour, the menu wasn’t explained and the courses were just plonked on our table and then taken away in total silence. The soup (fennel) had no taste, as though it was a mixture of flour and water, and was luke warm. The ambience was terrible due to discotheque-type music (rap, etc) being played so loudly that I couldn’t hear myself thinking, let alone have normal converstaion with my wife. After 30 minutes, I got up from the table and asked the maitre d’ to turn down the volume. One might expect that a classy restaurant would have the gumption to play subtle background music. Breakfast the next morning was poor. The staff similarly failed to offer any sort of greeting or hospitality. I found the coffee to be undrinkable (over-stewed, not fresh) while the scrambled eggs looked and tasted as though they’d been resuscitated from the night before. We attempted to complain to the Manager but were told by Reception that he was unavailable that day. Although I detailed the several issues, no apology was forthcoming neither did anyone (i.e. the errant Manager) seek to make any amends during the remainder of our stay. I was informed by Reception that most of the current staff were “in training”, a lame excuse as the Management should ensure a proper mix with some professional staff available to maintain quality. Perhaps, its just an unhappy place to work. As regards the Restaurant, we voted with our feet and dined elsewhere for the next 2 days - Montreux has many excellent Restaurants. In its heyday, this would have been a fine hotel particularly given its superb location and beautiful gardens. Now, it doesn’t merit its 4 star category nor the prices charged. Our room was dismal, the ventilator in the bathroom was non-functioning with subsequent mould and bad smell, an already bloodstained bath towel was not replaced after 3 days, the external balcony sun-shade was in tatters and stained. Warrants a 2 star category.

We had a quadruple room. There were 2 beds in one room with a sink in the room, and 2 beds pushed together in the other room with a sink and shower/tub in that room. Fixtures were old and shower was hard to use for someone tall. The only toilet was in the hall and did not have its own sink. We also had family in a nearby double room and they had a modern bathroom. The location is good. There is a bus stop right outside that will take you to Chillon Castle or the train station. We were given free transport cards. There is a French bakery just outside the hotel and it was an easy walk to Montreux Noel. We did not have the hotel's breakfast. There is a restaurant and bar on site. The best part was the view. We had a small balcony with a table and 2 chairs with a view of the lake and the mountains that was wonderful to wake up to.

Due to the recent name change which we weren’t aware of, we walked past the hotel without realizing it as the signage was so tiny! There’s ongoing Reno @ Lobby - which wasn’t a big deal. We received a warm welcome from the staff esp the gentleman (sorry, missed out the name) who was apologetic about the non-communication wrt name change etc. He proceeded to upgrade us and it was an excellent treat! The hotel’s location is absolutely fabulous- right on promenade, next to the lake. Beautiful awesome (day & night) view from our window. The bathroom, which seemed to have been recently renovated, is nice and clean but is a bit tiny. In room speaker was great! Complimentary drinks fm mini fridge. Breakfast buffet has good selection , even with a customized / on request egg station. A very lovely pleasant stay !
