Amadria Park Hotel Agava

Very cute small hotel just steps away from the promenade. The staff was polite and welcoming, especially Karmen at reception. I was positively surprised by the welcoming sparkling wine in the room and a homemade pastry for Easter. The breakfast area is also great with a good selection of food, only the coffee is from a self-service machine, if you are a coffee lover, a cup of coffee from the bar will be charged additionally. Overall, good value for money, planning to be back soon.

Elegant hotel on the main road through town, close to shopping. We wished we could have stayed longer. Opatija was classy and charming with very upscale shopping. A wonderful place to browse and enjoy the waterfront.

Beautiful place to stay if you visit Opatija. My husband and I stayed here as a couple and came back as a family. Both time we enjoyed it very much! Great breakfast (we didn't have dinner), bar offer, very friendly staff, comfortable rooms with a nice view. The hotel’s location made exploring the city easy. Looking forward to come again! Highly recommended!

Beautiful, quaint hotel near the sea. Rooms were fabulous. AC was the best. Very, very nice breakfast included. At the front desk, Maja, Lisa and Karmen were a tremendous help. Lots of nice shops and restaurants nearby. If there is one negative, it is that there are very, very few places to throw your trash! No waste baskets in the lobby. A small one in the hotel rooms, but this seems to be the case in much of Croatia.

British comic Sean Meo and I represented Groovie Comedy that i run and we travel to deliver shows, this time at The dance championship Adriataic Royal Pearl and provided after dinner entertainment so stayed at Agava which is a stone throw away from the Royal where chanpionshios took place. We wanted private but central, quiet but close to everything, big enough yo have a range of services but small and intimate when it comes to customer care. They are the top, the whole customer team is so tuned in and very customer focussed from the first smiling face that greats you at the reception to kitchen and maintenance staff. Great breakfast and great valurnoverall. Highly recommended.

I stayed at this hotel as part of a group tour. It has an interesting history- built first as a lodge for Austro-Hungarian royalty, then converted to a hotel for workers during the Communist era. It’s in a great setting near the waterfront and o the main street. There’s plenty to do and buy in the immediate area- grocery stores, numerous jewelry and high-end clothing stores, restaurants, souvenir shops and a few ******s. Because it’s an older building the hotel has many unique characteristics and a few quirks. Rooms had tall, majestic ceilings with ornamental molding but not enough natural light in my room, which had windows facing the park. Water pressure was great but occasionally the temperature in the shower turned much hotter or cooler. My room had a mini-fridge with items for sale and room for my water supply. Wi-Fi worked very well. The phones in the room did not; we wouldn't have noticed except that our 6 AM wakeup calls the last morning never happened. Fortunately, all of us had phones with us. Breakfast was probably the best selection on our whole trip (and this was our 6th hotel!). It included a giant refrigerator with additional cold items. We’d enjoyed the buffet at a nearby restaurant the night before, with the same ownership, and I recognized some items from the previous night's buffet. The seafood salad was good for breakfast, too! No waste- I like that. I was going to note that it was hard to shut out the light at night and there was some noise from nearby events at night (not too late, though). I discovered the morning I checked out that the switches next to each window controlled large panels that raised and lowered over each window that would have blocked both quite well. Oops. Fortunately I had ear plugs and eye shades with me.

This is a lovely old villa at the centre of Optija so well placed for amenities. You take pot luck with a room. Ours was huge but dated. The curtains were broken. We faced a little park and the street but slept well. Breakfast was fine, held in a rather small room at the hotel entrance. Dinner was fantastic but we had to go to another hotel - lucky us as it must have been 4 if not 5 star.

Old building, clearly once a majestic hotel. Some people thought it was dated by I liked the slightly genteel feel to it, so different to many modern hotels, with the huge wooded bedroom which was spotless, big bathroom. I faced a rather noisy main road, but there are shutters plus the air con could cope well with windows shut. Very close to shops, beach areas, waterfront, botanic gardens etc. Slightly odd was that you had to go about 50m down the road to another hotel for dinner, but not a problem and worth it for the superb food. Breakfast was back in the hotel - loads of choice, nice room, good ambience. If you can't find something chilled it's probably in the huge refrigerator from which you help yourself.

The location is great as you can walk to the seafront in no time, but the rooms are quite small and not very well looked after. We had a broken lampshade and chipped tiles in our room, no kettle and quite a bit of dust! Breakfast is good, but stay away from the salmon...
