The Monarch Hotel

We arrived to a hotel expecting at least the very basic customer services, but was wrong. No greeting, no smile and a deserted hotel with no other guests in sight. The reception desk staff took so long to check us in and gave very little information. Got to our room evetually which was very dated and cold and the bathroom was awful ( with mould and in urgent require of updating ), no toilet paper , had to ask from staff. This is not what was portrayed on the website. I complained as for the price charged this was unacceptable. I requested a refund as was not prepared to stay at a low graded hotel with my young children for the price paid. I was reassured by the receptionist and ***ager by phone I would not get charged and yet they charged me through my travel agent. And now they do not reply to any of my emails. This hotel looks appealing by name and the celebrity attached to it,but really it is a run down hotel in need of a full refurbishment. A very disappointing hotel and poor experience of hotel staff members who seem to have very little motivation in there job. Please do your research thoroughly before booking this hotel.

We shifted to monarch because the hotel we originally booked turned out to be horrible. It was a blessing in disguise as it ticked all the boxes for our family. Location is very good. It's very spacious. My kids could play cricket here in the lawns. Cleanliness is very good. The staff all were very polite and helpful. View from windows was wonderful. We booked 2 kings suites which were interconnected, both fooms also had large balcony overlooking the lawn and the view was wonderful. It looked like a budget hotel but all the essentials were well taken care ofthis property opens into tea gardens just infront of the gate. Horse riding was provided. Kids play area was there but it needed some repairs. Old world hotel with beautiful chandeliers and large old fashioned sofas and big spacious rooms. All this hotel needs is good ***agement and some care, and it's unstoppable.

The hotel has an awesome ambience for a pleasant and peaceful view from the balcony as well with good quality  food..... However food is a little expensive Travel desk To be improved a lot. transport facilities from hotel to sight seeing is poor and charged more in respect of other rental services

Perched on a hill with a majestic view of the Ooty valley - the location is outstanding. The hotel staff and food is super - makes one feel very comfortable. The part of the aura of the hotel is you can feel the palpable influence of its owner - the famous Mr. Mithun Chakrabarty. It is embodied in the cheerful and happy state of the hotel staff. For Mithun fans like me, it was a personal journey of emotional feel-good to go and stay in this iconic hotel. Stay here to enjoy the beauty of Ooty.

Up in the hill , the serenity of the atmosphere and getting a feel of being at a known place is what makes an idle tourist destination and relaxing point unique. Added to this is the hospitality obtained - restaurant, spa, small boutique shop selling souvenirs and winter wear and fancy products. The facilities provided for such an old property of more than 2 decades which has also lived its life in the hills is truly appreciating. Had a good stay indeed.

EXCELLENT. HOMELY ATMOSPHERE. CLEANING AND ROOM SERVICE ARE VERY GOOD. GOOD ,HELPFUL STAFFS. BOOKING DONE OVER TELEPHONE BUT FELT LIKE A KNOWN PLACE. Anyone can go with Family and enjoy the Place. Good Food and OVERALL A NICE EXPERIENCE.

I was staying at the hotel Kingscliffe below Monarch which is truely wonderful. Went to some marked viewpoints at Monarch hotel above, minding my own business and was accosted by an extremely nasty ***ager full of his own self importance telling me I was trespassing. He kept on laying into me like a bully after I apologised. Avoid this place at all costs...Pompous and arrogant! Bad atmosphere and looked run down.
