Why do you keep posting a photo of an historic Freiburg building instead of a photo of the City Hotel. Not knowing the area, we thought the building shown was converted into a hotel. This is not the City Hotel! Very deceiving! Below is a photo of the City Hotel. Keep in mind that they use an old key lock system, with no peep hole. In addition to not having a safe in the room, coffee/tea is available only through hotel clerk, Staff was extremely friendly and helpful and even gave us tickets for free local transportation on our stay there.

Great location behind the main street. Spotless. Breakfast was amazing but the biggest asset is the staff. They were all so attentive, friendly and helpful. Really handy supermarket next door. Easy walk to the train station.

Staff, was fabulous,rooms clean nicely sized. Hairdryer was broken. No biggy. Great breakfast, easy parking. We where able to walk everywhere!
The ONLY downside is, that you are near the university. Lots of students, lots of parties, delivery trucks starting delayed at 0500. Earplugs where provided. Also just close the windows and metal blinds. Great little place!

Having never been to Freiburg, we felt incredibly lucky to find this place. It’s the perfect location for exploring the beautiful city and the hotel itself was great. Nice breakfast, friendly staff, clean room. If you’re looking for a nice home base, you’ve got one.

Don’t waste your money. Even though there are no smoking signs the rooms smelled like musty (mold maybe?) cigarettes which caused my wife’s asthma to react. It took us two hours to find another hotel and City Hotel required us to pay for the night. We offered to pay the cleaning fee but our offer was refused and we were told that either we pay or they were going to call the police.
