Upon arrival we realize that this is not the Mercure hotel we were promised. There were only two cars in the lot and the landscaping was unkempt. I actually thought it looked closed. That’s how bad it looks from the outside. We are on a Rhine bike tour so, our bikes are quite important to us. There is no bike parking. So, bikes came into the room with us. Fun. Room is ok as are the amenities. Nothing really walkable for dining. I wasn’t about to try the restaurant. They can’t maintain the outside of the building, how would the kitchen be?

From this hotel, there is a lot to reach at walking distance. So favourable. Maybe good for those who arrive to place a plate already with the hotel name. The hotel itself is best trendy, clean and clean. The reception is open 24 hours. The bar doesn't make much good. That's a pity. The combination of the receptionist and the bar's control is not helpful. The room is clean and clean. What is missing is glass and the deck beds are synthetic and therefore too warm. A better air-conditioning instruction would also be useful. I don't get much smarter from the information on TV. Let the window open while sleeping means a lot of noise from the street. Furthermore, a great basic room. The breakfast is well extended and nothing wrong with it. Parking inside the caves costs 10 euros per day unnecessary and not customer friendly. This is a good alternative for a short visit to Oberhausen.

There were five of us checked into the hotel and we had two rooms with sliding doors - superb. Great hotel, very clean, large bathroom, comfortable beds, delicious drinks. Great connections to shopping and as a musical hotel - that's how we used it! Competent and friendly staff at reception, cleaning and bar. The shuttle service was also great. We were completely satisfied. Super tasty, balanced, healthy breakfast - everything your heart desires. From fresh fruit/vegetables to delicious scrambled eggs, a great selection of bread/rolls and tea and coffee specialties. We didn't miss anything! The private sauna was also a dream and we really enjoyed it! Thank you so much for the great stay! I give it 5 out of 5 stars!

The hotel's fine but how they treat people isn't. My sister-in-law, a Ukrainian refugee, was waiting for us in the lobby. Our train was late so she was there for a while. The man working at the front desk, Mr. Thomas, kicked her out just for sitting in the lobby so she had to stand outside for about an hour. When I asked him to apologize to her he looked at me and said sorry, refusing to actually apologize to her. I sensed his prejudice against her and the other employees would only make up exuses for him. I also called four times from the train and no one would answer the phones.

Prima location to explore food - Folkwang Museum, Rü Excursions and the city centre in runway, and other destinations well with the outdoors. Practical: Parking for 14 Euros/day directly at the house. Rooms OK, maybe a little bit of hip effort, but this can be age-related taste matter. Extra points for the supernet, superfix, super engaged team at reception!

Wow. What a trip that was to the Essen Spiel convention. And what an excellent hotel we have had the luck of booking a room into. Everything was top notch. We were given a room on the second floor, right across the elevator, in room 226. That was indeed super convenient, since for soundproofing, the windows were always shut, and I'm a smoker, so it made my outside trip to the smoking area easy. Everything in the room was where it should be. Plenty of sockets to plug our electronics in, a desk to put our convention stuff on and make our plans for the following day. Water pressure was spot on in the shower, all-in-one soap was naturally provided in a dispenser and filled daily. Room cleaning was done super meticulously in the morning and the cleaning people were nice and attentive when we happened to stumble upon them. All the staff we ran across were super nice and kind, even though we were always bugging them with annoying and trivial matters. The evening shift at the bar and reception really tried their best to satisfy our bothering demands. Hats off to them for putting up with us. I feel that we may have indeed tested their patience's limits. Despite all our best - or worst - but unintended in honesty - efforts to piss them off, they didn't even lose their smile. Great job, everyone! The cherry on top was the hotel's decision to open up a big room full of tables and chairs for the Spiel attendees to pass the night once the exhibition day was over. Really thoughtful and it's one of those small details that win people over. I'm looking forward to returning to the convention next year, and I'm sure I will be booking a room in this hotel alongside my plane and convention tickets. Keep it up, GHOTEL!

Ich bin eine gebürtige Essenerin und kenne deshalb das Hotel schon ewig. Die Lage ist zentral, gegenüber vom Hauptbahnhof und mitten in der Stadt. Die Zimmer sind je nach Kategorie geräumig. Ich finde es toll, das man die Fenster öffnen kann. Auch die Betten sind bequem. Frühstück gegen Aufpreis, dort gibt es allerdings Verbesserungspotential. Trotzdem 100% Empfehlung
