The staff, especially Nayelli, made the stay special. The rooms are really nice and spacious. We had a problem with the air conditioning system and Nayelli was extremely accommodating to get the problem fixed. The in hotel restaurant had great dining options, breakfast was delicious. Great chilaquiles and amazing cinnamon coffee. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. One small suggestion is that I would ahve put the A/C units in the back of the room, instead of over the bed. The showers were really nice and had tons of room as well. Again, the staff were extremely nice. We had problems with our credit cards checking in. Since it was late, they allowed us to stay and resolve the issues the next morning. Really 5-star service for taking care of clients. Thank you.

We stayed here on our first trip to Oaxaca to experience Day of the Dead, the local cuisine, arts, and mezcal. I highly recommend this wonderful, boutique hotel. From the moment you enter the central courtyard, which houses the restaurant, you feel welcomed. The staff is friendly and very helpful. The rooms are new and extremely well designed. We had a large room with a very comfortable king bed, a couch, and small table with 2 chairs. The wall mounted heat and air unit is very effective in keeping the temperature comfortable. The closets, double vanity bath with large walk in shower, and enclosed potty room are behind the wall against which the bed rests. It is a great room. If you go, be sure to have a cocktail in the Cava Bar in the basement. The bartender is a true cocktail mixologist. Try the mezcalrita. You will not be disappointed. They offer an excellent breakfast selection and we ate there every day. Our server, Jeanette, had learned her excellent English during her years in Nashville. She was helpful, friendly, and a great plus for this hotel. We definitely would book this hotel again.

We stayed in the hotel for six nights at the beginning of March. Here are some observations. Pros: It is very clean. It is fairly close to the key sites and restaurants in and around the main plaza (about a 2 minute walk to the plaza, about 15 minutes to the nicer restaurants). The room windows face an interior courtyard so there is no noise at all from the street (which apparently can be a problem in Oaxaca). We stayed in one of the suites because we wanted a second window to let more light into the room; it was fine. The hotel restaurant is quite good: the service there is excellent, and we particularly enjoyed breakfast on mornings (most) when we had to rush out and, in the couple of evenings when we were too tired to go out again, enjoyed the tortilla soup for dinner. (The restaurant is a little loud with street noise as they do keep the huge wooden door to the street open but that did not bother us … it’s a city.) Cons: There is no concierge and only one person who staffs the front desk and seems to be generally responsible for everything. We asked just once if they could call and make a dinner reservation for us (we made the rest well in advance before we left home), and were told the restaurant hadn’t answered the phone when they called. We had the impression they were just too busy with all of their other responsibilities so didn’t make much of an effort to follow up (or to offer us another suggestion at another restaurant). For this price (and it IS pricey for Oaxaca) they really need an additional staff member who can reach out to and for guests with recommendations and assistance booking. The supposed roof-top “terrace” is just an unfinished roof with metal beams lying around, a single table with umbrella and a couple of uninstalled hot tubs leaning on their sides. Sitting on a terrace in the cool of the evening is an important part of the experience in Oaxaca and this shouldn’t be advertised unless they really have one. Clearly the intention is to improve it but as of now it has not happened. As far we could tell, the “cava bar” was not open during our entire week stay there. We chose this hotel (and were willing to pay more for it …) because it looked like it would be quiet and we’d be able to sleep. As mentioned above, there is no street noise. However, we did have noise problems on 3 separate nights. In each case, the problem was other guests. In one case, a couple conducted a screaming match (in Spanish) for three hours, from 4 a.m – 7 a.m., at which point we gave up, got dressed and left. The police were called and dealt with it calmly and eventually the couple was removed from the hotel, but not until we’d lost a night’s sleep. The next couple of nights a different group of guests (they occupied 3 or 4 rooms and may have been related) persisted in yelling conversations (in Spanish) across the interior courtyard from the open doorways of their rooms. Bad enough when they did it in the late afternoon, but they als

I spent 4 nights here and was enamored with the exquisite style. Minimalistic but so classy. White is the predominant color set off by the black railings and terracotta-color marble floor tiles. The designers have done a magnificent job. The rooms have everything one needs and the bed is wonderfully comfortable. Staff was helpful and friendly at all times. 5 min walk from the cathedral - don’t be put off by the underwhelming facade - it is beautiful inside. Everything newly renovated and spotlessly clean. I can’t fathom out why a place like this with one’ll positive reviews and almost all ratings at 5* comes up in TripAdvisor at position 60! It leaves me suspicious of the position ratings here on this site.
