I was extremely disappointed with my recent stay. I spoke w/ the front desk manager & with many other staff during my stay at this location. This turned what was supposed to be an exciting, exploratory visit to Oakland for house hunting, into a bit of a drag and disappointment. I have outlined some of my feedback below as I think this should be addressed on a larger level so that others do not have the same experience as us. First, I am FUMING irritated by how I was treated by the valet at this hotel. It happened twice in the same evening, with the same person. He was rude, talked down to me about how to speak to the valet staff about how I need my car to be parked, and had extreme attitude, after making me move my own car several times because he was overwhelmed. This is unacceptable. I have driven cars in hundreds of hotels both in and out of the U.S. and I am not about to be talked down to by a valet attendant. The hotel itself. This hotel needs help. The bathroom is dirty and broken down. We had a tile loose above our bed that made us nervous to sleep and the floors were pretty gross in the bathroom. It was an extremely warm weekend in Oakland and our room was so warm and the AC was not working properly. We had to call and have a fan brought to our room because we couldn’t sleep. Also we had a lot of issues with the television not working on the internet. So had major limitations on working Netflix etc. The hotel service. We needed plates and silverware for take out one night. We had been out house hunting until later in the evening and we called for plates/silverware. I took nearly an hour to get these items to our room and we had to call more than once. We also requested our room to be serviced on Saturday (we called earlier in the morning to double check they would be coming). We had a stain on our sheets we wanted changed. We arrived back at the hotel later around 9pm after another day of house hunting to find our room completely untouched and unchanged. It was so frustrating because we were exhausted. This time I decided to speak to the manager on duty (who was friendly and understanding) but again had to call more than once because of the delays. Our room did not end up fully changed until 11pm. We stayed in Oakland because we are relocating back to the Bay Area and wanted to check out the East Bay and in particular Oakland, Rockridge and the Oakland hills. This is nowhere near the welcome we expected and was a major turn off to Oakland. Ya’ll need to get it together.

Ramada by Wyndham Oakland Downtown City Center

Oakland|0.2km from downtown
The location of this hotel is a strong point. It’s just a block and a half from Oakland City Center. From there one can walk to downtown Oakland or take a direct BART ride to downtown San Francisco, downtown Berkeley or SFO. So depending on your planned activities during your Bay Area stay, you might be able to use this hotel as a home base and get everywhere you need to go on transit and spare yourself the hassle and expense of a rented car. The neighborhood is a business district with shops and several restaurants. Staff were available at the front desk at all times, were friendly and helpful. The room and facilities were clean. This is an older building, and some of the rooms have quirks. My double-bedded room was quite small, really with room for only the bed and a small table. The TV can only be viewed from the bed. The window does not open to the outdoors but to a small ventilation shaft; it does not receive any sunlight at all, and when opened, you will hear the noise from all of your neighbors’ AC. If you just want a bed, however, it’s fine. I did have some questions about accessibility for people with mobility problems. The building itself appears fully accessible - nice wide doorways and solid elevators - but the room furnishings may not be, as in my room there is only 2 feet of space on either side of the bed. Also the bed is unusually high and may be difficult for someone to transfer.

Americas Best Value Inn - Downtown Oakland/Lake Merritt

Oakland|1.4km from downtown
This was the worst hotel out of 4 sub $75 hotels I stayed in during my trip to SF - and was the most expensive! Their advertising is deceptive, rooms are in incredibly poor shape, and is in a bad area. I would never consider staying here again! It's cheap lodging, so I'm not gonna complain about the datedness of the rooms, but they were also in poor condition. The shower valve leaked, and the shower temperature would vary between freezing cold and scalding hot. The refrigerator made a constant tapping sound. Most frighteningly, the swing bar door latch was broken. This is a safety risk, and literally a $5, 4 screw replacement. Beyond this, there were also cigarette butt holes in the bedding, and the bathroom window was wide open without a screen when I arrived. I decided to stay anyways, because by the time I checked in I didn't feel like going elsewhere. Around 12:30AM I was woken up to a woman screaming and yelling. I perceive this was in the parking lot. It woke up many other guests too, as I could hear them talking outside my room afterwards. I didn't go to check it out, but I did not see the police respond so I assume this is a common occurrence and the management does not care. Maybe I'm wrong, but I just wanted to go back to bed. An important note is this hotel is directly across from small buildings erected for the homeless to live. This in itself does not make me greatly uncomfortable, but I know it would make some other people feel this way. In the morning, I went to get breakfast, as advertised on their direct website as well as on the site I booked on. The staff member said they no longer offered breakfast ”due to covid-19”, but said the change was made very recently and they have not updated their website. Every other hotel I stayed at offered at least a takeout breakfast or better with the current covid situation (March 2022). They did not offer any discount because of this. They wouldn't even refund their ”Resort fee” in this consideration. On my way to a fast food place for breakfast I was chased by a homeless man, not exactly an issue of the hotel's, but it well represents the type of area it's in. I don't look for any sort of luxury stay for less than $75, but really this hotel is not worth it. It ended up being $86 after their resort fee, and for $15 more I could of stayed in a much nicer hotel. The only positive comment I have is the wifi was decent.

I can’t emphasise enough what an unsafe dump this place is. My 1st nite there were drug deals going on in the room above mine. Then a ********** came in and screamed till 4:30am. I called the front desk but no one answered. Second nite they moved me to a room on the bay side. Doesn’t mean much... you can’t see the water from the room and there were 25-30 dudes having a fiesta on the lawn. Curse words and loud drinking games till 2:30 am. When I checked out I was running back to my room because the doors lock promptly at noon. I asked the maid Ruby if she would open the door to get my clothes and an expensive leather jacket that was my favorite, along with about $1000 worth of business clothes. She refused to open the door. I went down and sat at a nasty picnic bench and watched as she took towels covering my clothes and put them in her cart. I then had to run to make a meeting. I went back to the Motel 6, told the manager what happened and he said there was nothing he could do. I finally got in touch with Claudette, Team Lead Claims Rep. and she told me they would need a police report, which I made. I called Claudette 10 times over 9 months before she finally called me backed to tell me my claim was denied. I plan on going to the Oakland Tibune with the story. DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL! I stayed here a couple of weeks ago to visit family. long story short the management decided to kick me out for reasons I am still unclear on.check in was fine, the issues started when I had a friend come over to pick up his sweater that I had from my last visit. I received a call from front desk saying my friend had to park outside and I offered to pay for the parking but the front desk agent denied. So I had my friend leave and park his car outside of the property. after he left my friend came by to get ready for a movie we were attending later that evening. I received a call again from front desk telling me my friend had to leave. I couldn't believe what I was hearing so I asked him why and he said occupancy was for 1 adult, which I understand working as a hotel employee myself. However this was no later than 6 PM and nowhere near bed time, plus we were leaving to the movie soon and he was not going to be coming back with me. I pleaded for the agent to please understand what I was saying, that my friend was not going to be staying in the room with me. but no such luck. After a while of going back and fourth about how this is totally acceptable and that I do his same job at a different hotel the front desk agent began to actually yell over the phone at me totally unwilling to listen to any common sense. He eventually started to yell that he would be there with security to kick me out. Moments later I heard loud banging on my door but at this point I was totally in chock and scared to be completely honest. After a couple of minutes they stopped and shouted that they will call police. For once I felt a sense of relief knowing that police would show up since I really was doing nothing wrong and they were actually making me terrified. I then received a call in the room again this time from management telling me I needed to leave(no reason was given to me) and that if I dont comply they were calling the police. He said that he was already cancelled the reservation and I no longer that a right to stay in the room and he was already refunded my money back. The manager sounded calm but didn't seem apologetic or seemed to sympathize as if they had done nothing wrong. The only thing that made me leave was knowing they had cancelled my reservation without my consent and the fact that they were civil enough to at least refund me my money for the terrifying experience. almost a whole month has passed now and I still have not received any refund from this property and am still waiting. I notified Hotels.com about this and they treated me much better and even gave me a credit for the horrifying experience. To this day I wonder why they singled me out while other peopl had multiple people staying with them. Surely they dont verify number of adults for every single person. A part of me believes that it was due to their personal beliefs/religion. Which is discrimination. My advice is to stay the heck away from this property or they re more than capable of taking

Booked in a two-bedroom apartment suite, there are two rooms, each with a double bed and bathroom, a kitchen and living room in the middle, a microwave oven with a microwave oven, and a cup, plate and dishware. Very suitable for family living. There is a big bird on the tree outside the small balcony. There are many yachts in the small bay. Walking along the front road to the right, there is a German restaurant, German sausage and beer taste really good. The hotel's free breakfast is OK. Three kinds of sausages are eaten a day. One day there are bacon patties sausages, milk cereals, homemade waffles, and several kinds of bread jams. Originally, I wanted to live in San Francisco, but I said that the roads in the city are relatively ups and downs, the one-way line is complicated, and the parking cost is high. So I live in Auckland. It is convenient to drive the Auckland Bridge to San Francisco for two consecutive days. I found a Guilin rice noodle shop nearby in the evening, and it tastes so good! ! !

Wound up here for an unexpected multi-week stay while my landlord had work done at my house, and it was really lovely. The rooms are modern, bright, clean, and cozy, with fun design details. The location is great - near cute shops and tasty spots to grab coffee, meals, or snacks (or sit & eat in non-covid times) or take meandering walks through beautiful neighborhoods in the Oakland hills- safe to walk even past sundown! The rooms & parking lot feel safe - they open to an interior area secured from the street by a locked gate. The family who manages the property is accommodating and kind. The only downside for me was how much more expensive this was than my normal monthly rent - and the fact that it was an unplanned expense. Pricey for me, but a good value for hotels in the area. In all, don't think I could have found a better place to stay!

I have a new place to stay when I am in the Bay area. I visit at least 8-10 times a year and I was very impressed by this Hotel. The staff are great. Very helpful and friendly. The hotel is quiet at night and the rooms are big and clean. It is near the Oakland Airport and a short drive from any of the highways or bridges in the Bay area. Plenty of good food nearby. I would highly recommend this Hotel if you are in the area.

Excellent customer service within a quiet place. Although close to the freeway I hardly heard anything. My room was close to the freeway. Didn't see any guests or staff after check in and check out. The motel was clean inside and out. The only negative thing to report is the WiFi is weak to poor connection.
