The Edgware Inn

We were greeted by Melinda when we arrived and it was one of the warmest welcomes we’ve ever had! He couldn’t have been more helpful and went above and beyond to ensure we had the best stay at The Edgeware, from offering us a free laundry service, upgrading our room and always being on hand if we needed anything. He offered a free taxi service and gave us a fantastic recommendation for a local spa. Nothing was too much trouble for Melinda. The accommodation was clean and comfortable and was in a great location for the town and Victoria park, all within walking distance. The food was also really fantastic! Couldn’t recommend this place enough!

Simply one of the best places to visit! Great accomodation, a warm welcome by the super friendly staff, nice rooms and good food. They will help you out with whatever you need and also to make you feel at home. It's fairly close to the train station and the owner will arrange a tuktuk or taxi if needed.

We arrived in Nuwara Eliya, and was excited about our stay. Turned out the place we originally had booked, had screwed us. In panic, we searched for a new place to stay, and The Edgeware came up as the first place.. And we are so happy, we chose to stay here. We called the staff, and asked if they had an available room for two nights.. And the manager/owner was helpful from the moment he answered the phone. Never have we experienced this level of service. In any country! He was so kind to pick us up from the other hotel, free of charge. When we arrived at The Edgeware they provided us with a lovely cup of tea in the living room area. Afterwards they showed us the room. And oh my... The room is both modern and cosy at the same time. It is tidy and very very clean - and you can truly see, they take good care of their hotel.. Our room also had a bed loft, with a spare bed. Both upstairs and downstairs you have huge windows so you get the panoramic feeling, with the view to the highest mountain of Sri Lanka. The quality of the furniture in the rooms are superb. The beds are very comfortable, clean and has great pillows and an actual duvet. They also provide you with a heater, as the temperature in the area is a bit lower than the rest of the country. The bathroom was excellent as well. Nice, tidy and clean! We simply can not complain! At night you wont hear a sound.. We had a great sleep. The Edgeware also provide 5G internet, which was lovely, especially when we had to work on our laptops. For dinner they also provided us with a lovely meal in the living room area, where you can use the television to watch netflix or whatever you want to watch. After dinner the extraordinarily friendly staff gave us a lovely plate with fresh fruit, free of charge, provided candles, a blanket and a heater, as they could see, we froze a bit. In the morning we had a lovely english breakfast (the staff is kind to ask, wether you like a local breakfast or an english breakfast) Also here they provided us with fresh fruit, a fresh papaya juice and lovely tea. You can enjoy the breakfast outside on the balcony and enjoy the beautiful morning view to the mountain. The staff speaks english - fluently - and they are probably the kindest people we have ever met. They also have excellent advice to great excursions, such as Victorias Garden, Gregory Lake, the strawberry factories, Moon Plains, the old post office, tea factories and Worlds End at Horton Plains. Furthermore the staff also offered a free ride to the centre of Nuwara Eliya. The centre is in walking distance, though. All in all we felt very home during our stay! Excellent staff, excellent food, excellent surroundings, excellent rooms and a service level beyond excellent! We will warmly recommend The Edgeware if you are going to Nuwara Eliya..

Pretty good location and very good food. Let's start on the positive side. It's a nice little hotel with friendly staff that will go over and beyond to make your stay perfect. They will arrange scooter rental, help you with your desired activity etc. The food is absolutely gorgeous and it's served by a very pretty decorated shared table. Unfortunately the manager had a weird etiquette of doing things. You need to sit in "the lounge" by a noisy TV before dinner and only turning the lights on by dinner table 2 mins. before seating. And you could hardly sit down before dinner was on the table. He was basically looking at you eating asking every 5 mins. if you liked the food. Rooms are fine, not more than that. For the price of 95usd I would expect more. I would definitely prefer a homestay next time for 25% of price.

We stayed for two nights and had the best local breakfast you can ever imagine ! Malinda is a top manager running the place with a lot of enthusiasm and dedication. His team will make sure your stay will be memorable. Next time we will be in Nuware Eliya we will for sure go back to the Edgware.

There is nothing I would criticise about the Edgware. Staff were extremely professional, friendly and hospitable. Rooms were well furnished and comfortable with heaters for the colder nights. Food was top notch. I would definitely recommend the evening meals as well as the breakfast. If you want a welcoming hotel in Nuwara Eliya I'm confident you won't find a better value, better quality one than the Edgware.

Liked: Very welcoming and helpful staff, from the taxi driver to the excellent cooks and the manager Malinda (who speaks English perfectly). They will do everything they can to please you! Food was superbly prepared and tasty. Breakfast super complete, compliments! Great position, a nice 20 min walk to reach the lake and beautiful view from our room. Very quiet environment, no noise at night Well equipped and clean room, the heater turned to be useful at night as the temperature goes down! Disliked : Continuous presence of the staff was super appreciated but not always needed ;-)

5 star accomodation! Very modern, spotless clean rooms and fantastic food. But the most outstanding are the people who run the place: extremely friendly! And short walking distance to all the interesting places like the lake. We loved our stay!

The edgware is one kind of a personalize experience we got on our trip to nuwaraeliya. This Villa is so beautiful and cozy. Each room is differently decorated and so lovely. It has all the facilities you need. I must say something about Malinda, who takes care the place. We stayed there as a family with the siblings and parents. He has given us an absolutely amazing service which is outstanding. He took care of each person and his energy to Servise us had beated anyother five star hotels we stayed over many years. The food was delicious too. You will frequently see us for sure in future too. Thank you Edgware Nuwaraeliya.
