It's a beautiful space, i mean really beautiful - what they've managed to achieve is extraordinary and completely unlike anything within 40 miles. It's full of potential, and a very positive addition to the area that deserves to do extremely well. All the right ingredients are there, but they need time to bring them together. Making any judgement on a place that has been open for only 2 weeks and particularly in the current climate may be considered unfair, and there is nothing broken here, it's just some elements need rebalancing in my opinion. There's a difficult balancing act. It needs to be affordable enough to attract regulars, but special enough to justify the huge investment and feel like a destination. I'm sure they will find the right balance soon. The dictionary defines Eyas as a juvenile or untrained falcon. Based on our experience, i'd say that there is still some maturity to be realised. Dinner and drinks came to £250 per couple, which is London prices, and Michelin Starred London prices at that (and more than St Helena or Hibiscus, the nearest local comparisons i can think of). Having been lucky enough to go to quite a lot of good restaurants over the years, i'd say they have a little way to go. It's not bad, in fact i'd say the food is very good - the halibut was absolutely divine, the venison slightly underwhelming (although the ragu was superb!), and the desserts were phenomenal - tarte tatin was every bit as good as the one i had to wait 40 mins for at Gordon Ramsey. Mark is clearly an excellent chef, but the pricing simply doesn't match the quality of the food yet. £60 for 3 courses + sides (£7 each) is punchy. It's also somewhat incongruous. The sides are really pub sides, the wine list is very reasonable but can't decide if it's a pub list or a Michelin list - £14 for a 125ml of LPR on one end and then only £27 for a bottle of Primitivo on the other. Why produce lovely food menus and then give a cheap, laminated wine list? They seem to want the best of both worlds, but don't quite deliver on either. A few other small things rankled, but luckily all of them easily fixed. The service is not there yet - no one offered to take our coats when we came in and then only when i mentioned it, was mine taken, but not our other friends'. We waited an age to be asked for drinks, and then almost immediately food orders were taken and food arrived. If there were 2 sittings i'd understand, but for one 4-hour sitting, i feel they could have spread it out a bit. There was no signage in the hotel, so entirely unclear where to go when we came in, and when we left, there were no lights on in the garden, so we had to use phone torches to navigate back to the carpark. The cocktails were served in completely the wrong glasses - a martini should be served in a martini glass, not a wine glass. The main bar was also far too bright - a few lumens lower would have created a much cosier experience - it felt a little corporate,

Very quiet considering it's right next to the A14, i didn't hear anything from the traffic. Supported by a Starbucks and a Petrol station. The hotel was great the staff were all very helpful and happy to help with any questions i had. Clean towels, tea, coffee, milk refills means that you could stay there without going anywhere if you wanted to just chill out on your own. With a TV and my crime magazine i was happy to chill in the evening. Would be really happy to book this hotel again in the future.

GGuest UserHad arrived from the Hilton in Harrogate which was brilliant. Had high hopes for the brand when I arrived at this hotel. Walked in to reception and all I can say is appearances can be deceiving. Once you look past the chandeliers and flowers it’s evident this isn’t up to the usual Hilton standard. The first receptionist I spoke to was either shy or new. Very basic service, more time spent looking at the screen. Had to ask the usual questions, breakfast times/location:car parking payment etc.. Got told it was on my key card. That’s great but I’m asking you in person and having stayed at many hotels this is usually standard. The rooms are very basic and the hotel does need modernising. The receptionist kindly moved me (thank you Eva) as I could hear everything in the original room I was allocated, and the adjoining door between my room and the one next door didn’t seem to secure.. I found the family room I was given slightly more modern but the beds creaked awfully. Luckily I always take ear plugs. Bathrooms had those horrible shower heads that emit shed loads of spray, not ideal if you are trying not to get your hair wet and just have a wash. They do provide shower caps though. There is also a reminder to be vigilant with the shower curtain as the spray shower heads soak everything! Food in the restaurant was mediocre but prompt. Hilton prices without quality. Had the risotto which was essentially pea and cream, no taste of mint. It was a huge portion though and served quickly. Girls on service were very friendly but had to be reminded as to service. I was also given pudding without a spoon, had to go exploring as there were no staff to help find one. Pudding was bizarre, a lemon sponge thing on a bed of granola. Tasted like a dandelion. Had intended to use the gym, but to be honest I didn’t want to stay here longer than I needed to. In sum, not awful but not great. Standard no higher than a Holiday Inn, albeit they are more modern and don’t charge their guests for parking.

GGuest UserThis hotel is steps away from the centre and steps away from the iconic Roadmender venue. There are PLENTY of food places, bars, and shops within walking distance. Only downfall for me was the pool being nomore :( Please bring it back, I intend to use you every time I visit Northampton now and would love a cheeky swim. Other than that, a lovely hotel with lovely staff, I'll be back.

GGuest UserStayed here at the weekend with friends; lovely room, enjoyed the evening meal and a fab breakfast. Would recommend. The only downside was that there is a service charge payable on all drinks that you are not notified of. We queried our bar bill as it didn’t make sense and was told by a member of staff that on all purchases a 10% charge is payable. There is no signs up around the bar area notifying you of this. We were told that the staff are not allowed to tell you about this. To me that seems fraudulent. Surely you can’t be charged for something that you don’t know about every time you go up to the bar and purchase a drink? Not sure if the staff get this money or the company. If this is company policy are they breaking the law by not notifying you of this? Please be wary.

GGuest UserWe stayed here for the night, had dinner as well as breakfast. The rooms are clean and well kept however the staff are indifferent and unwelcoming (aside from the cleaning staff). The owners son checked us in and wasn’t particularly welcoming. Neither of us can recall if he actually said hello. Either way, a cold reception. The bar staff are cold. Breakfast was a shambles. The young girl serving was really trying her best but is clearly being let down by management. No greeting on arrival. No clean glasses. A sorry looking cereal bar and we weren’t sure if the coffee cups were clean or not. For a B&B, you only have two things to get right but the breakfast experience is not being thought through. Upon check out, no one was around aside from what I assume was a female duty manager, who clearly doesn’t want to be there as there was zero engagement. Not the worst place I’ve stayed but doubt we’ll be back as you’re made to feel as if the customer is getting in the way. All in all a real shame because what you saw on TV is a million miles away from reality, especially when the owners son checks you in as cold as he does.

GGuest UserReally easy when checking in, staff were very friendly and helpful. Even though we had booked without breakfast, they still gave us all the times in case we changed our mind as well as the times for the food and the bar. The room was clean and just what we needed for a getaway. Plenty of space and it had really good space to store our belongings away. Good amount of plugs, especially having one either side of the bed. Bathroom was clean and a really good size. Wifi was included, which made it more appealing as usually when we go away we have to pay extra!

GGuest UserWe stayed Friday for one night as we were visiting friends in nearby ****on Bec. We were warmly greeted by Julian and check-in was easy. Our accommodation is just across the car park and was more than adequate for our needs. We decided to have a drink before going out and there is a good selection of beers and wines, all reasonably priced. We thoroughly enjoyed chatting to Julian and learning about his sister's plans for The Narrow Boat. Obviously in January the weather isn't appropriate for sitting out in the garden overlooking the canal, but there is also another indoor restaurant that overlooks the terrace. We were more than happy sitting in the smaller restaurant/bar area particularly with the log-burning stove beside us! We had a look at the food menu which looked very nice and reasonably priced. Our breakfast on Saturday morning was delicious. My husband opted for the ”full works” which had a supplement, whilst I went for the standard one. Very nicely presented and the poached eggs were perfectly cooked. As other people have said, The Narrow Boat is on the A5 so you will experience some noise from the road but you get used to it. We look forward to coming back to stay again the next time we're in the area. Thanks to Julian and the chef for making us so welcome.

GGuest Userhe issue that I have experienced was: When I first arrived at the hotel I requested an iron and and ironing board. The member of staff gave me an iron but stated that I could not have an ironing board because it must be in a room. I asked if I could get it later as I need to iron my shirt for work and was informed that it would be sent to my room. This happened at around 3 in the afternoon, it is now 10.15 at night and they have not produced it. Next I ordered a meal in my room, I waited 1 hour before going to reception and finding out they forgot to send my meal to my room. I was informed that the meal was ready now if I wanted it I could take it, which I was happy to do, only to find out that they had tried to give me my meal that was stone cold. Not good for chicken and chips. I then ordered a smaller snack because of the time and waited 45 minutes telephoned reception and was told by the supervisor that they had just come on shift and knew nothing about my issues. She apologised and assured me that she would personally bring my sandwich to me in 15 minutes, 30 minutes later I go to reception as I had still not got my sandwich and it was too late to eat at 9.30 at night. I asked to speak to the supervisor outside as the members of staff who gave me this poor service were by reception and I wanted to speak privately, outside I did not get an apology for the poor customer service of her staff and she did not apologies for incorrectly telling how long I would have to wait the second time, after I had told her about my poor experience. She then said ”you don't want the food raw, do you” after me complaining about her keeping waiting the second time. I teach customer service and this has been the worst service I have ever received in a hotel ever, and I will using this experience with Ibis in my classes on a perfect example of how not to treat a customer for a long time. This is my first experience of Ibis hotels and I am shocked that this is how you treat your guests. It occurred on: 01/09/2022 This meant that I am in my hotel room furious and disappointed and have not eaten. It feel ironic that tomorrow I will be teaching customer service and I am unable to sleep because of how much this has affected me. I am not satisfied with the service I have received and I feel frustrated that it is too late to book into another hotel. Train your staff to a much better standard and made aware that this is not good enough. Send me a full apology and the cost of my evening meal that I did receive should be charged. I don't expect any of the things I have shared with you to make any difference to the staff and if I was ever foolish enough to stay at this hotel again I am sure I would get the same poor customer service. I just hope that this is a poor hotel and it does not reflect other hotels in your chain.
