The B&B's environment is fantastic! We parked our car in the ancient town's parking lot, called for directions, and a staff member immediately came down to greet us. The B&B has two super friendly cats, one named Baker and, as expected, the other named Shuta. There's also a cute little Schnauzer. The room is very spacious, perfect for relaxing on the sofa or taking a bath to easily spend the weekend. The next day, we went straight to the small loop trail of Qixiakang Ancient Path – it was perfect!

As a solo traveler, safety and hygiene are my top priorities, and this B&B completely put me at ease! The bedding was clean and soft, and the mattress was just right – I slept incredibly soundly. In the morning, I enjoyed breakfast in the courtyard. I had messaged the host beforehand to swap the Chinese breakfast for snow cabbage and shredded pork noodles. That feeling of being looked after made my solo trip feel so warm.

The room's facilities are those of a two-star hotel, but it's priced like a five-star hotel in a first-tier city!! In short, this guesthouse is completely not worth the price of 800+ or ​​even 1200+ per night ❌ Qixia Keng Village has a nice environment, but the guesthouse itself is all show and no substance 😭 We booked two rooms; details can be found in another review, so I won't elaborate here! As I mentioned when checking out, I spend over 150,000 RMB annually on Ctrip and travel extensively around the world for business and leisure. I've experienced everything from 500 RMB chain hotels to thousand RMB five-star chain hotels and luxury hotels costing several thousand RMB! I suggest the owner invest some money in upgrading the rooms! Also, you could take some time to stay in a standard chain hotel—not even a luxurious five-star one—like the 400 RMB per night Atour Hotel in Ningbo city center, and compare the difference in facilities between your guesthouse and the Atour Hotel before reflecting on why you can price your guesthouse this way! I really urge that a star-rating system for the homestay industry be introduced sometime, with star ratings corresponding to prices, so that guests don't end up paying unnecessary fees 😭

Hygiene: Last night, we found numerous wasps and stink bugs in the room, along with a gecko. We had the waiter kill them for a while, only to discover the wasps were hiding between the shower window and the grille for warmth. Even though they're less active in the cold weather, they're still quite dangerous. This indicates the hygiene inspection wasn't thorough. We booked dinner. The taro and pork rib soup was excellent, and the scallion-baked crucian carp was the best I've had in years. Unfortunately, the chef was unprofessional; the fish wasn't flipped over during simmering, resulting in it being undercooked. The pickled mustard greens and beef was also a disappointment; the beef was over-marinated and lacked chewiness, and the pickled mustard greens made it too salty. I've stayed here 22 years ago. Returning three years later, there were surprises, shocks, and disappointments.

On New Year's Eve, I just wanted to get together with my friends, so I found this B&B. The location is very satisfactory. It is an ancient village far away from the city. The B&B environment is very good, retro and old-fashioned, and has its own characteristics. Since it was New Year's Eve, there were some activities at the B&B, including eating dumplings, writing calligraphy, and lighting bonfires. The housekeeper also invited us to set off fireworks and took photos for us. Other guests also generously gave us fireworks to set off together. It has quite an atmosphere. I will definitely come back next time I have a chance. It’s a new year, I wish everyone can get what they want~
