The Bowers Chalet Private Campfire & Lawn BBQ, Wifi, Breakfast Hill Top 360 Degree View

I stayed with family for three nights at Bowers Chalet. We had two apartments in the same cottage just besides. Each apartment had two bedrooms, no common area, but we saw other cottages with common rooms there. This resort is a remote location type of resort. If you have stayed at such a type of resort before you get an idea of what this is like. If not then remote location means away from city, so do not expect star hotel facilities, do not expect cheap in-dining, and do not expect easy access to other attractions in the area. Do expect unique local features (like here the 360 hill view) and cozy fun with your travel partners. The scenery is great. The cottage is situated on top of a hill with a valley on both sides. Daily we saw clouds coming up over the hill and covering the resort. Rooms are clean and sufficiently maintained. Breakfast is served in the room and sufficient in quantity. Drinking water is also provided in the room. Front of the cottage there is a lawn where kids can play cricket. Backside there is also a lawn which is used for bonfire if you want the resort to arrange. You are assigned a cottage-assistant on arrival who you can contact for anything while staying there. Our assistant was Saravanna, who was really helpful and with good communication during our stay. Any issues we had the local management helped us resolve. Thank you Mr. Vijay. Of course things can inprove. We would have liked daily room cleaning. Perhaps it is available on request but nobody asked about it. The complimentary breakfast is only a few items so it would've been great with more variation. Finally requesting cash payment for an expensive stay smells like tax evasion from resort ownership.

The price of food is very very expensive 1 rice, 1 Sambar 1 Side dish is 150 rupees not a worth rice quality was not good , sticky rice, insects in pickles Fried rice is not good , chicken piece are not good , stinking plates and saucers dirt in plates. Everyday breakfast same food idly, semiya upma and white chutney and dal. No verities of food. Food Taste is very bad not even feel like to eat but no option. Not spicy or coconut in every thing. Bad experience in food. No vegetables

Except location nothing is good. Very poorly maintained property. They need to really renovate rooms. Kitchen was quite shabby. Until and unless you are bachelor and tight on budget will not recommend. Staff was polite though but I believe owner is not putting enough effort in improving quality of stay.

Many things were wrong with this property apart from Location. I will list out a few and I'll describe our experience below. 1. Geezer wasn't working properly. 2. There were no Lights in our room!!!! 3. No wifi, No bath towels were provided, no mirrors inside room (one mirror is there in bathroom and the bathroom is very SMALL!!!) even drinking water came after we told them to bring. 4. Most deceptive thing about this property is two different rooms were separated by a door!!! Means the rooms are interconnected and you can hear the voices, talking, whispers and moans from next room. So to hell with privacy and noice cancellation. 5. Their deceptive description says many things like a balcony, garden view, mountain view etc, only mountain view is true. 6. Washroom is pretty small and not very clean or modern. And if you take a dump there, your room becomes smelly. You can hear the guests from next room is also watching sitting on toilet in their room. 7. Blankets and bedsheets were not washed for sure, they used perfume to make it fresh. 8. There was a TV, but no remotes were there. Even though if there's any remote since we don't have wifi there, it's pretty useless. To be honest I don't really care about the wifi or TV part. If everything else was good then we would have loved this stay.

Have low expectations for the rooms, but the view is spectacular!!!!! Clean, simple rooms with very old bedding and furniture. We slept well despite the howling wind. Outside, a lovely grassy terrace gives a 360 degree view. You are absolutely on the top of a mountain and so it can be very windy. Ask for extra blankets. Wilson, the manager was excellent - kind and charming. Breakfast was good. Best uttappam we have had with good sambal. We ate on the terrace looking out on the view but I cannot find my pictures (sad). The road to get there was very much a countryside experience. We were driving after 7 pm and it was a little worrying. We got there after dark and were not impressed but in the morning it was superb!! The view made up for any imperfections. As we left Wilson gave us seed pods to plant to add trees to India ... A nice touch. This is a simple place, but we enjoyed our stay. (Family if 4 from Canada)
