We stayed at Emerald by Nature Resorts and Stays and had a decent experience overall. This is the second Nature Stays and Resorts property on our trip and we were not disappointed. We travelled as a family of 2 with our toddler. On the positive side, the property is clean and fairly well maintained. A special mention to Raghu, who was extremely helpful and responsive throughout our stay. The food was also quite good in terms of taste. The property is tiny and can host only 2 families - it is a tranquil place, cut off from all the noise and tourist trappings and is ideal if you want to enjoy the silence and birdsong. However, there are certain things to factor in while choosing this property. The bathrooms could use a basic ventilation system or an exhaust. The approach to the property is in poor condition for about a kilometer because of roadworks. This is not the problem of the hotel but needs to be factored in if you are driving a car that is not an SUV. It is challenging for a newer driver. There are also no petrol bunks for almost 8-10kms from the property and so ensure you have a full tank to take you to and from the place, especially since the winding terrain consumes more fuel that you could have anticipated. The chef Prem is very nice and approachable just like the caretaker Raghu. They made our stay very comfortable. The food is very tasty and both Raghu and the chef Prem were happy to suggest the best dishes for us to try. The staff is limited in their resources and do the best they can, unlike some of the more connected Nature stays properties. However, this reduced resources does not reflect in the hotel's menu or pricing which felt a little unfair, especially since we had recently come from another of the group's properties in Coonoor. Overall, while the property has its positives, the operational and infrastructure gaps make it a moderate experience rather than a great one. As long as you factor in the fuel, the challenging roads and the limited access to a town, this is a beautiful property which allows you to disconnect and only spend time at the place and take many a long nature walk through the beautiful countryside surrounding the place.
