Chuzenji Kanaya Hotel Reviews

A very comfortable traditional Japanese hotel with an elegant, old-world charm. The food, especially the Western dishes, was excellent. The rooms have been partially renovated, making for a very comfortable stay. The views are beautiful, and there's a shuttle service available.

Plenty of free parking space, midway to attractions, excellent onsen!

The hotel is old so you definitely see how dated the facilities are but at the same time you know they are very well maintained. My room on the 3rd floor was spacious and had great view to Chuzenji lake. The sulfur onsen was great too. Staffs are professional, especially those in the dining room. They are vey attentive and quick to response to your needs.  The only downside is the location. If you want to find a lowkey hotel to relax in a remote area, Chuzenji is a perfect choice. But beware that there are only 3 shuttle bus a day. If you missed the last shuttle at 16h40 you will have to catch the last public Tobu bus at 18h and it takes like more than an hour to get to the hotel. No taxi, no uber available.

I was able to relax and enjoy the clear air by Lake Chuzenji. The open-air bath was a real highlight.

The rooms are clean and tidy. I recommend booking a room with a meal plan, as the dinner options change daily and are very delicious.

The hotel has an antique charm, reminiscent of an old luxury hotel, and is quite clean and tidy. The only minor issues were the metal room doors, which caused static electricity in winter, and the lake view being a bit obscured by trees, which was a shame. The Japanese breakfast was incredibly rich and exquisite, definitely worth the extra cost.

Vibes and services are top notch. Feeling very warm and cozy inside the hotel. And Fujiki chan kept saying thank you very much after each sentence is very cute too :)

It’s a very lovely hotel with a lot of history. You can see on the furniture and the wooden door and a very spacious bathroom.

Restaurant was a bit overpriced. But nice for hikes.

Everything was comfortable. The hot springs in particular had the best quality. The food was also delicious. The shuttle bus was convenient, and they would provide additional buses if there were a large group.
