Saw the reviews and was not expecting much. I have been surprised to be honest. The reception was helpful, check in was quick and easy. Our room was clean, well equipped and the bed, lovely and soft and we had the best nights sleep. The only gripe was the communal area toilets were grubby but that’s down to dirty people. You get what you pay for and we were comfortable and can only speak of our experience.

I had to attend a funeral in Canberra and a friend recommended this YMCA (Leumeah Lodge) in suburb of Nicholls, handy to that side of the city off the Barton Highway. This accommodation is very new. If your GPS is old, then No. 48 is not on it! It is located opposite McDonalds and behind KFC. It is lovely, spotless, nicely appointed with very helpful, friendly Reception staff. There are 58 (differing) and all non-smoking, rooms to suit most, including bunkbed rooms used by school groups. As a single, I chose the ”Queen” perfectly adequate for a couple - the room, bathroom and shower all spacious, with toiletries and hair dryer provided; the double bed was very comfortable. Air Conditioning and WiFi available with a wall mounted TV, tea/coffee bags & a kettle. There are dining facilities only for Groups but you can order a Breakfast Box the night before from Reception. Parking is available. This Lodge is far superior to many hotels I've stayed in and the cost far less! It was amazingly quiet overnight (a Thursday). I recommend this accommodation.

I was really comfortable in the room and the bath towels were big fluffy and so good. I was really pleased I was given a access code so I could get into the building early in the morning excellent service 👍

We booked this hotel under ”Luxury escapes” and it certainly wasn't luxury! When we got there the receptionist was absolutely terrible (no customer service skills whatsoever) and not to us but to others as well. When asked about parking she said it's just across the road. Asked her how to get there and she gave us a printed form and said that should tell us - no explanation of form of direction. When reading the instructions it was very confusing and it took us a while. We were meant to receive a free bottle of wine and a voucher. Didn't get that, I had to call reception to ask for it and had to go down to reception to pick it up. Got back to the room and there was 1 wine glass. I gave up and on the following day asked for another wine glass. She said she would send it up via housekeeping......it never came. On the second day we had to evacuate because the fire alarm went off. My husband has a walking stick and finds it very difficult to move. But we did it. Got the site where you go for evacuation and there's no one there to direct us or anything, I find that very poor especially in a hotel. I had booked previously to go back in April but I quickly cancelled it. Worst hotel I've ever been to

Nice leafy quiet street. Close to light rail. Good secure parking. Reception staff efficient. You can walk to Dickson or Civic if you have a spare 20 mins. Room we had was quite small (especially the shower) so not good for larger people. Beds comfy, but we did not like the pillows (there was only one option). Limited facilities (café downstairs seemed to only make coffee). But as we chose it for its price, quietness and location it met our needs well and overall we would stay again.

Hotel location📍   We drove at 8 o'clock in the morning in Sydney. We stayed in the zoo in Canberra for about 5 hours. We drove in from the entrance. On the left is Jamala's signboard. It is good to park directly in the parking lot without taking a ticket.   Jamala is not in downtown Canberra, but Canberra is only a 10 minute drive to the city. If you want to live for a few more days in Canberra, I wouldn’t recommend it because of Canberra’s political attractions. A person who is not so good may not be able to comprehend some of the funny stalks that the administrator said. It takes about 2 hours to finish. There is a grandmother who needs to be taken care of by a wheelchair. The hotel and the zoo's overall barrier-free facilities are very comprehensive. Very smooth and happy~   At 4 o'clock we can finally go back to the room to rest! We live in a giraffe room, two people live in a long lemur room, and the giraffe room has a room at 4 o'clock. The administrator has a giraffe to take pictures. The giraffe room can see giraffes and deer, lemur rooms, The lemur is just outside the glass window of the room, and it’s especially cute to see people coming over and selling! We can also see the lion on the window terrace of the No. 2 lemur house. The hotel is open at 6 o'clock~ These two hours are free activities, and the zoo can visit the aquarium. Dinner🍝   Dinner is a fine dinning mode, a lot of glutinous nuts will be very particular about changing a good-looking clothes, drinking wine and snacks at the open bar on the terrace at 6 o'clock, red wine, white wine, champagne beer, the wine here is a good wine, like to drink The pot friends can open their hearts~ But you have to remember that this meal has to be eaten at 10 o'clock in the evening... Don't get drunk in advance.   At 7 o'clock in the evening, I will have a big table with people I don't know. It is very important to master the foreign chat technology. Then check out~ If you want to experience a few more animals, you can live for a few more days~ However, this hotel I think if you want to live, you can choose your favorite animal room, and English must be good~ Otherwise you will feel tired and boring~ The person staying at the hotel is still a foreigner!

Avenue Hotel Canberra - Our room was lovely and clean. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Bed was very comfortable after a long drive from Brisbane. Room was maintained very well and check in/out was very straightforward. We will definitely look to stay again if we decide to come back on day! Marble and Grain - The waitress was coughing over all the serviettes she was folding and not covering her mouth or washing her hands. Had plates on our table and no one came up to clear them until a minute before we left. There was hardly any food left and there was only a small selection for $34 a head. Bacon was super greasy and scrambled eggs were very watery and cold. Staff looked like they didn’t want to be there. Coffee was okay. No one in the kitchen was wearing a hairnet or gloves when preparing food. Overall a great stay, highly recommended.

The hotel itself is clean, warm, and has a good service attitude. It has a large public area and the bed feels soft. Bicycles can be rented at the entrance of the hotel. I feel that Canberra is a very suitable city for cycling. The hotel is located in the administrative district where the Canberra Parliament Building is located, and it is relatively close to the Parliament Building (about 1km on foot?). The hotel room is equipped with disposable slippers, shampoo and shower gel, etc., but not equipped with toothbrush and toothpaste. However, the administrative area on the rest day is really deserted, and there are almost no pedestrians on the street (you can see a lot of people when visiting the Capitol, the National Library, the lake, etc.), and there are fewer options for eating near the hotel.

I was unsure how my stay was going to be but it was excellent. I stayed for 2 nights in a 4 bed female dorm. You don't get keys or cards you instead download an app called Goki which you just use an email to login to and has all of the doors you need on it. The building is very secure, to enter later at night you need to have the app to unlock it. The room smelt very nice and there was a large window which let in a lot of light. We each got a locker with plugs in, and there was a desk with two chairs. The bunk beds were sturdy and didn't creak. Your bed had a pillow and a nice quilt along with all of the sheets you would need. The bathrooms were very clean and smelt very nice. The common areas were tidy and the laundry room was easy to access and use, as the payment for the machines was also on your phone. The accommodation was right next door to the Canberra centre with many restaurants and shops as well as a five minute walk from the art gallery. For $50 a night it was definitely reasonably priced. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would definitely stay longer next time!

This was a one night stay in Canberra as I had a medical appointment nearby the next day. Check in was relatively quick and easy, the staff explained the hotel facilities and then we headed up to the room. Once we got to the room, it was quite pleasant albeit a bit dimly lit. As it was a weekend, that meant their restaurant was closed, that posed no problems as in the foyer there's the Pantry, an area that has a limited selection of items ranging from frozen meals, to chips and chocolates. The microwave was a bit tricky to operate but once I got the hang of it, we had a quiet dinner and settled in for the night. As we'd been given vouchers for breakfast the next morning (allowing one drink and one food item - something we weren't told) we dropped in to their restaurant to have breakfast. I picked the apple cinnamon pancakes and later a bowl of Granola. Once the items were brought to the table, I noticed that the pancakes were almost submerged in maple syrup!!! I thought I was going to be brought a small jug of syrup to add as I wished, but to have them ”swimming” in syrup ... not a good look!. The bowl of Granola was rather tasty with yoghurt and fruit topping it. As we left, we presented our vouchers, to be told it covers one food and drink item, leaving a small charge at the end. So to backtrack and rate the hotel itself: The room was quite nice, beds were narrow and comfy, the bathroom spacious but the shower only has a glass panel that only covers half of the shower you'll need to keep it within that half or risk flooding the bathroom .. The hotel is rather nice, but will we stay here again? More than likely not, no fault of the hotel or staff ... just not our style...
