The hotel has a long history, and you can feel the special cultural atmosphere as soon as you enter it. The elevator door still needs to be opened and closed manually, like some shooting scenes in the movie. The night of the stay, the front desk brother was warm, the service was thoughtful, the explanation was very patient and detailed, and said that the design of our passports was cool, from the color of the cover to the design of the first page. The dinner was eaten at the restaurant on the first floor that night, and they recommended red curry fish, which tasted very good. The hotel room is clean and tidy, the single bed room is booked, the heating is comfortable, the bathroom has a hot towel rack, which is very comfortable.

On the main road into the city from Geelong, 2 min walk to Coles and about 5 min drive into the city. Room was clean and good size with comfy chairs and small table for dining or work. Had Austar which was nice but really hard to figure out due to 3 different remotes, the main remote being in Chinese so that kinda made simply watching free to air a real drama.

I can highly recommend Barkly Motorlodge in terms of the facilities they have for wheelchair access in Unit 17. It is well set up. Shower and toilet facilities are good. The room itself with the bathroom between the double bed and the single bed is ideal for carer/client. The noise of traffic at night from traffic was a little loud but that was my choice as I do not like sleeping in aircon preferring to open a window or two. Highly recommend the motel for its closeness to the main areas of the City and for its disabled facilities.

The rooms are clean and spacious, with a queen and single bed provided it is a good set up for a family. We stayed one night after spending the day at Sovereign Hill. Also has a small indoor heated pool, perfect for my son to swim around in. Owners were welcoming, which topped off an enjoyable stay in Ballarat. The following day we spent some time around the Lake and checked out the paddle boats and look out at the top of Mount Buninyong, which was another highlight for my son.

So we stayed here for one night. We were wanting seperate rooms for kids and us, wanted a pool and/or spa bath. It has all. We had a family room. The staff were really friendly when booking, checking in, checking out and needing assistance. As soon as we checked it we wanted to jump in the pool (indoor heated pool) and saw it was covered up. We called to see if it was closed, and they said no they just like to limit it to one family at a time so he opened it up for us. It wasn't deep, appx 1.35m. It was warm clean. It had a few chairs and tables inside to leave your stuff. We were able to get pool towels from reception. It would have been good have a toilet in there, instead of having to go back to room (we were on top level). The room was clean and neat. TVs worked, air con worked which was great. Beds comfy. Had a desk, couch and dining table. Had a kettle, toaster and microwave with a mini bar fridge. Unfortunately no bowels, big plates or Cutlery. So it made things a little difficult. Didn't have a bench where you could do all that, just a cupboard where the kettle and all that were kept. We have a special needs child and her meals are very particular so having some space to make these would have been good. The bathroom was clean and big. The spa bath was big and comfortable. It was nice to relax in there. Maybe a small side table next to it would have been good. Overall it was a nice place to stay for a very reasonable price. I would stay here again.

Stayed here for 3 nights in early November. Checked in and greeted by a lovely lady on reception who was very helpful and nice. Was in room number 1 (spa room.) The room was very clean and modern and although the room was close to the road, inside the room was very quiet and couldn’t hear cars or other guests and made for a relaxing stay. Only a 5 minute walk to the lake and a quick drive Into town. Had dinner at the adjoining hotel which was a very nice meal Would definitely recommend staying here and I would definitely stay here again when I’m next in Ballarat Thank you

This is a lovely hotel in the center of Ballarat. It's not hard to find restaurants and bars in the local area. HOWEVER, be aware of the nightclub downstairs. It runs until 3 in the morning and can be heard in rooms above. Some sound insulation, either for the nightclub or the rooms, would be fantastic.

Recently visited Newington apartments and was greeted with lovely decorations and furniture upon arrival. It was a comfortable and spacious apartment that provided great amenities. It's close proximity to the city centre ensured we were very able to explore the area during our short stay. However, issues arose as our apartment was meant to include 2 sofas but were instead provided with 1. The staff's response was to ”ensure we thoroughly check photos of the apartment before booking”. This shouldn't be the case when the description included ” two sofas”. Following on the poorly constructed bathroom meant loose handles and screeching showers when the water was turned on. In the midst of a pandemic there is no mention of any additional sanitary measures the management have taken to deal with COVID-19.

Stayed 4 nights in a superior suite. The room is 39sq m which is reasonably spacious given it has two double beds, a sofa, a small kitchen table with 4 chairs and a writing bench along one wall. It comes with the usual kitchen appliances, microwave, small cook top with oven and fridge. Tea and coffee sachets are provided. If self catering the food preparation area is quite limited as the appliances take up all the kitchen bench. There is a wall heater and an air conditioner. The beds were reasonably comfortable. There is no safe in the room. The room is comfortable enough although there is no balcony or windows that can be fully opened so unless the door is kept open fresh air is limited. The place is very convenient to downtown and the station. A stroll to downtown is around 10 minutes. One issue was the noise on the Friday night - whether it was noisy people in the next door pub or noisy Friday night guests away for the weekend I don't know but there were some rowdy types disturbing the peace. I'd stay here again but probably only during the week.

Ballarat flashed from Melbourne, the hotel is one step away from the train station and conveniently located. The sound of the train can be heard, and the hotel has earplugs at the bedside. But the staff is seriously insufficient on public holidays, and the front desk +housekeeping seems to be one person. Booked a room rate with breakfast, checkin was told that there was no breakfast, contacted Trip.com customer service to solve it
