"The room was clean, quiet, and spacious, with a water dispenser available in the hallway. The service was excellent, and we even received a welcome drink. However, the projector quality wasn't great; it remained blurry even after adjustment. Despite that, the room itself was very nice and large, with a great view. Even in a double room, the sofa was big enough for an extra person to sleep on. Overall, it was a comfortable stay, and I'd definitely consider coming back."

"We had an amazing stay at Gather Inn in George Town, Malaysia. The hosts were absolutely brilliant — so attentive, welcoming, and always happy to help with anything we needed. The room was spotless, with great facilities and everything maintained to a really high standard. The air conditioning was fantastic, which made such a difference in the heat and kept the room super comfortable. The location was also perfect: very close to the centre and all the main attractions, yet tucked away in a quiet area so we could get a great night’s sleep every night. We would happily stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting George Town!"

"This was the best hotel we stayed at during our trip to Malaysia. Check-in was a breeze, and the room was spotless. It even had a kitchenette with a bar, a washing machine, swimming rings, laundry detergent, and dish soap – everything you could need! They also upgraded us to the 33rd floor. The rooftop pool on the 36th floor offered a panoramic view of Georgetown. It was truly an amazing experience. There are plenty of food options, attractions, and convenience stores nearby, making it super, super convenient! I'll definitely be staying here again. Highly recommended!"

"The location of 22 Macalisterz by MyKey is really great, making it super convenient to get around Penang. The staff were also quite polite and offered good service, which is definitely commendable. The interior design of the unit is genuinely photogenic, with a stylish black and white minimalist look that feels very modern. However, I was quite disappointed with the cleanliness inside. While it looked okay on the surface, upon closer inspection during my stay, I found the unit to be quite dirty, with many areas poorly cleaned. The most outrageous part was waking up in the middle of the night to find bugs on the bed! As a hotel, bed hygiene is a fundamental requirement, and this incident made me feel very uncomfortable. Although the location and service are good, the cleanliness really needs significant improvement, especially the issue with bugs on the bed. This truly detracts from the experience. Anyone booking here should seriously consider if they can tolerate the cleanliness issues."

"Booked Deluxe Single room. Room is spacious and clean. But hotel soundproof is quite bad, can hear clearly if next door open room door or chatting outside the room. Hotel free carpark is limited, but beside the hotel has a paid carpark. It could be better if hotel guests have special rate for parking fee. Overall is good, worth for money."

"A good stay overall with all the basics—clean towels, comfy beds, aircon, and hot water. Check-in was smooth via WhatsApp using a key code. Some minor issues: smoke smell in the 3rd-floor hallway, noise from upstairs rooms, and slightly weak flooring near the bathroom. Still, it was a decent first-time experience and good value for the price. For tourists, a few things to note: • This is a solid example of a budget hotel—simple, no-frills, and affordable. • Daily housekeeping is not included. If you’d like your room cleaned and tidied during your stay, there’s an optional charge of RM30 per session. • A RM50 deposit is required and refundable on check-out day. • Message the hotel via WhatsApp at least a day before check-out to confirm your departure time. A staff member will inspect the room before returning the deposit. • Cash refunds are only available between 9 am and 12 am daily. Check-out is by 12 noon, and unclaimed cash deposits will not be refunded. • For foreigners, if the deposit is not collected in person, refunds are only processed via Wise or Alipay. • Allow 10–15 minutes for room inspection and deposit return. • The hotel is about 30 minutes from the airport, possibly longer with traffic—so plan ahead, especially if catching a flight."

"After staying for a few days previously, I came back here again after a trip to Kuala Lumpur, and it was still excellent. They knew we were three people and had already prepared three sets of slippers and toothbrushes in the room, which is commendable. The staff were polite. On the last day, when I wanted to eat Hainanese chicken, the staff recommended a local restaurant to me. I stayed a total of four days this trip. Although it's a small hotel, some of the services were better than the other four and five-star hotels I stayed at during this trip. When I needed help, I got a quick response. "Room is extremely spacious, clean and comfortable. Bathroom amenities and bedding like in a 5 star hotel. Located next to Penang Plaza easy for shopping. Manager and front desk staff were very hospitable. Should hang some art work on the wall of the room as it's quite bare. Will stay again soon."

"Easy to check in, very very clean, location is the best in town and host is also very responsive. View is amazing and this unit provide very complete amenities unless for the washing machine. Me and my mom had a very spectacular experience staying here and this is our first staying in macalister 22. Hope the price wont rise and we still can go back in our next visit. "The hotel is newly open this year, the design and cleanliness is at tip top condition. The service also good. But one of the thing that make me most disappointed is the hotel swimming pool closed for maintenance at this peak season. End up I need to find another place for my kid to play water. Not ideal for family who look for staycation. Breakfast choices quite limited for the price at ~rm68 per Pax. Overall, this hotel cleanliness,design, service and location is good."
