Me and Harlem go way back. Aloft Harlem used to be my go to hotel before I started staying more on the lower east side. In fact, a Marriott employee who used to work at Aloft directed me to this brand new, just opened hotel. I was excited to return to uptown and stay in this spot! I wanted to love this hotel. I don’t like giving lackluster reviews and feeling like a Karen. But over two nights, the transgressions just piled up. I’m a Marriott ambassador who stays in hotels about 240 nights a year. I never bring up my status. This might be the first time I actually uttered in frustration, “it’s September and I’ve already spent 27,000 dollars at these hotels, why is this so hard?” Upon checkin, it took almost an hour. This is even more frustrating because my first night was business and my company always sends a spending authorization. Two days in a row I checked with the hotel to see if they had received the authorization. They lost the first one. They mismanaged the second one. I always call or chat ahead to ensure a smooth checkin. It was still a mess when I arrived. The room was a “Central Park view.” I should have known better; I don’t know why I believed this title. I know New York geography better than that. I was looking into a building. Central Park facing or in the direction of Central Park shouldn’t be called central park view. I had changed from the city view to the Central Park view before arrival and I guess I’m glad I did because while they were trying to figure out my reservation they mentioned they had oversold the city view rooms. I will say the black out shades do a great job. The bed was fine. Sheets were a little co****. This hotel costs close to what a Moxy costs, so their sheets should be comparably smooth and comfortable. The bathroom was an absolute joke. Maybe not all the rooms are like mine, but mine may as well not have had a door. As you can see in my photos, the door is for “art.” There is a huge gap where you can see everything! Like probably 12 inches or greater of a gap! Who designed this and thought it was a great idea?! Glad I was alone. The air unit is SUPER loud. Doesn’t bother me as much since we usually have a fan on at home, but it was so loud that when it came on, I had to turn the TV up. It will likely bother some people. And you can hear everything through the walls. Oh, and the toilet clogged twice. And one of the days, the hot water was off all day for repairs, though that’s out of anyone’s control. It’s just giving context to a very un-relaxing stay. Back to the front desk mess—I later noted a destination fee on my bill (I had two separate bills because one night was business and one was personal). I don’t mind destination fees—I’ve had them at many Marriott properties. But I was never informed of this one. I even asked at the restaurant, and they had no idea. I finally went to the desk and asked and they explained I should have been given vouchers for each ni

We stayed in room 408 for 2 nights midweek in September to see a Yankees game and a taping of a late night TV show. We used the free shuttle from the airport and to get to the subway. Shuttle will not pick you up anywhere except the airport. We spent a lot of time on public transportation to get to our events. They gave us a coupon for a complimentary breakfast at check in which was nice but odd because we we only waited a few minutes. It would have cost nearly $50 and was a nice spread. We did not use any of the hotel amenities except the shuttle and vending machines. I was surprised by how many little things in our room were broken, dirty, or just old. The luggage stand was unusable missing a bolt. The bathroom light switch was damaged. In the tub, drain pop up was messed up, the shower curtain wasn’t quite wide enough, the caulking had black areas, and the tub floor wasn’t as clean as it could be. We had a towel with a hole in it. Sink faucet was missing knob covers. The beds were OK but blankets are thin. Mini fridge looked like it was from my dorm in the ‘80s. Lamp between beds had a bulb burnt out and was dirty. Figured out how to get HVAC fan to run constantly to drown out the sound of neighbors having sex at 3am. Little things like no pen, pad, do not disturb sign, and only one tiny bar of soap made me feel like this place was not a 3 1/2 star hotel. Staff all seemed great and very helpful, especially the shuttle drivers But at more than $250 per night, we won’t be back

The room is relatively big enough and clean. However, I really did not like the service in all aspects as following:
Front desk: It took 20 minutes to explain that breakfast was included. I showed my email and app where it is clearly written ”included”.
Breakfast: very simple one and refill takes forever. I had to tell the waitress to refill the coffee and other meals who was standing next to the table and scrolling her cell phone without any greeting to anybody.
Shuttle bus: We made a reservation for the bus at 12 pm and we're told to exit the hotel 10 minutes before. The bus driver did not open the bus door and showed his 5 fingers to wait. I knocked the door at 12 to get in but the driver was so rude and asked if we were in hurry and complained that he had been awake since 2 am. It was his duty to take us to the airport on time. He complained again and again during the ride which was unbelievable. I never experienced such behavior from shuttle bus driver.
Overall the hotel is not 4 star hotel! It is 3 or below.

My husband and i stayed at this hotel last week while visiting for the Us Open Tennis. i wanted to stay at a new clean modern place and it fit al those perfectly. Upon arrival to LGA we called and the hotel shuttle came and picked us up at 12 midnight .check in was quick and easy. i will say the air conditioner noise is 100% correct. we got there at midnight and once in the room i was like what the heck is that noise. luckily the room was cool and we turned it off for the night. ( we could not sleep with that noise) the next day we left the air on since we would be gone and the room was cool enough to turn the ac off at night. to get to the us open we would take the 7 train to the Mets Station one station down and we were within walking distance to the Tennis Stadium. we felt safe after the game at about 1 am to take the 7 train back one stop and walk the 10 minutes to the hotel. For purposes of the US Open to me this is the best hotel. all of the others near LGA had horrible reviews. this hotel is beautiful, new and modern. they also have a coffee shop that was convenient. having the 7 train nearby is a huge plus. overall i will be back to this hotel.

My husband and I took our parents to New York. The hotel is very close to LaGuardia Airport. We booked a double bed for our parents, which was very good. The bed was very big, not the narrow bed we imagined. My parents rested very well.

We chose this hotel because it was close to an event we were attending. We stayed at this hotel in 2014 and it has been upgraded since then. The hotel is in the middle of Chinatown which may affect your decision. It is near shopping and lots of food choices. I must say that all the people we dealt with from front desk, lobby cafe, housekeeping and shuttle driver were all very friendly. We even had a few managers stop us and ask us how our experience was. The restaurant has been put in the lobby and it has a limited menu. However it worked out for us as we were not looking for a huge cooked breakfast. The shuttle is a great deal as they will pick you up at the airport or you can use it for your return flight. It's no charge which is a great deal for New York. We would stay at this hotel again!

Very nice hotel inside, being in Chinatown it caters primarily aimed at Chinese clientele, hence it was difficult for us to find many options of vegetarian breakfast. Having said that, there was always fruits, breads, toasts, etc the standard staples so no complaints. Reception staff weren't too welcoming as they seemed to just get you past their desk, not sure whether that was racism or just the culture. Rooms are nice and spacious and location of hotel is very convenient for travellers depending on public transport. Several of chinese eateries right at the doorstep.

The hotel is really nice. It is a 10 mins walk from the metro station and the hotel is quite new. I originally planed to stay here for 3 days, but I was quite satisfied during the stay and decided to extend for one more day. Dhanush at the reception is very friendly and he helped me a lot during my stay.

Traveled with a family of 5. Loved our stay. Staff were very welcoming and nice. We needed accommodations and they meet our needs with no problems. Valet parking were courteous. Our rooms were clean organized, and very well structured. We loved the bathroom behind the mirror. Very nice. Kids loved it and enjoyed the stay. They have a small Gym, beautiful breakfast lobby, lower terrace with tables, and upper terrace with a beautiful view. Their breakfast was ok. Do need a little more work on. Offered toast, bagels, cerial, oatmeal, waffles, eggs, tater tots, fruits, coffee, juice and water. Eggs were watery, and tater tots were cold, and not well done. Bagel tosted with cream cheese were great. We rate it a 4 out of 5 since it does need work on their breakfast, but we enjoyed our stay and will visit again. Thank you!

Excellent
KKitrynThis hotel is immaculate and absolutely everybody is above and beyond pleasant. Though not directly affiliated with the hotel, Inexpensive, super clean and very easily accessible parking is a two minute walk away at 25 Kent St. We paid $64 for 2 1/2 days of parking. The room was incredible. Exposed brick walls with super high ceilings, the bathroom had a huge tub and a wonderful shower. Pro tip: if traveling with someone that you do not want to see you naked, understand that it is not a one-way mirror over the bar and you absolutely CAN see into the shower While someone is showering. Luckily I was with my daughter, so this was not a real issue. The restaurant within the hotel and the Ramen place directly next-door are both wonderful. I did not make it to the rooftop bar this time but since I absolutely will stay at this hotel every time I come to visit I will check it out next time! The room was extremely quiet, temperature was easy to control. Now, a little too much honesty, I am an extremely “sensitive” person, and resting and hearing so much from the second I stepped into this hotel. I was never scared, as I definitely don’t typically get scared, but I had numerous very genuine and very obvious things happen while I say that this hotel, such as seeing things walk across the hall in both my room and the hallway, in the main lobby bathroom someone walked into the bathroom and into the stall next to me, but never left, and when I looked, there was no one there, and I was in the shower. I could hear several men talking to each other as if they were right next to me. I was definitely not hearing people from another room. I also heard the door to the stair well open, which is right next to our room and I was right next to the door so when I looked, there was nobody there and I pulled it shut again. Just out of curiosity, as to what was there prior to the hotel, on the way home my daughter looked up the history to the hotel. Let’s just say it was very enlightening as to why i was experiencing so much activity in this hotel, especially on the third floor next to what I will assume would have been a fire escape at some point. It also may explain why the first thing that went through my mind when I opened the front door of the hotel and turned to my daughter and said “I’m surprised the hotel gets away with door opening inward. It goes against fire code. Anyway, You can look up the history yourself and understand all that I have said. :-) either way, a spectacular hotel at a decent price and a very safe and beautiful part of the city. I will definitely stay here again!
GGuest UserWe always stay at Marriott, although I rarely use my Bonvoy membership. I always book our hotel through trip.com. The fridge had a bottle of Coke that had been drank by the previous guest. The hair dryer bag is dusty.
Everything else looks good. They provide free water during check-in and a raincoat in case of rain.
The breakfast seems decent for the price.
JJanine7AMAZING value for money. The staff is super friendly and the guests are very international and social. The hostel offered lots of free activities every day. I was amazed by their sightseeing tours, yoga or karaoke. Amazing company and offering!
BBINBINExcept for an extra charge of $ 49 per person per day of the resort fee, this is not acceptable, and I hope to cancel it.
Good location, same building with park central. Manhattan club
Newly renovated, but the toilet and bathroom in the room are too small, only half the size of the Manhattan club
Breakfast was generous and dinner was negligible,
Opposite diagonally is Carnegie Hall, the subway station is right out, walk 10 minutes to times square 5 minutes to central park
15 minutes by subway to Wall Street,
If you can cancel the resort fee. I will book this hotel every time I go
Otherwise, I would still choose Manhattan club
AAnton26Great location….but that’s what you’re paying for.
Check in was fast and the staff were welcoming and friendly. There are umbrellas to use in the rainy weather and the front concierge staff are happy and greet you nicely.
The location is convenient- close to all main sites of NYC but just far away enough from the noise and bustle so you can have a peaceful night’s sleep. Air conditioning can be adjusted as our room got a little too cool for our comfort.
The luxury king room high floor itself is disappointing. Quite a bit more in cost compared to a standard king room, the room doesn’t have any fabulous views or even a bathtub that can accommodate someone comfortably. One website advertises the luxury king rooms have a ‘spa bath’. This is fact is not true and incorrect. Room slippers are very nice and there are enough towels for 2 people.
Pillows are too soft and the room furniture is tired-looking. Some peeling wallpaper as well indicating the need for a refit.
For the money, there’s no breakfast either and if you wish to extend your checkout after 11am, it’s $100 for 1-3 hours. A bit rich, considering you’re better off getting a lounge pass at the airport or simply go for a walk around this amazing city. To compensate, there’s an awesome diner 50m from the hotel that serves fantastic breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Bathroom products are lovely- Balmain and there’s only 1 bathrobe in the room, which I thought was strange, considering the booking was for 2 people. No minibar either… why is this?!
I would stay again simply because of the location but I would not pay for the luxury king room high floor again, as it’s not worth the money. Keep the location but take a standard room.
MmelI really like the Sheraton Hotel, this place is really very satisfying, highly recommend for a relaxing holiday, the service is quite good and friendly and very clean, and complete equipment will not disappoint
GGuest UserLocation was superb, next to the main subway station. The concierge staff was very friendly. They need to check that you're a guest before you can walk in to the hotel - this is probably because their lift does not enable guest only access to each floor - you do not need a card to go up to any floor. They charge a $39.99 destination fee and give you a $15 market value to buy food everyday.. (500ml water for $7.5, plain bagel for $5, ham and cheese bagel for $18...) They charge $4/bag for baggage storage after you check out.. Other than these 'small' charges, everything else is good.
GGuest UserThe room we stayed in for the first two days was small, on a low floor, and had only one window facing the patio, so the room was not well lit. The order was changed to the 12th floor for the next seven days. The room was also larger and had windows on both walls. After opening the curtains, we could directly see the street view of W 71st Street and the view of Midtown, which felt good.
The loud sound of the air conditioner was the only unacceptable problem, but this is a problem that many two- and three-star hotels in New York have, so we can only tolerate it.
The quality of service varies from person to person. Some front desk staff are friendly and some have average service attitudes. There is not someone to clean every day. I cleaned it myself in the first few days. Later, I found that the sink was blocked. I called the front desk and someone was sent to fix it. In the following days, someone came to clean it continuously, so it is also important to make requests. Most of the service staff are of South American descent and speak Spanish. They may not be good at English, so communication is a bit difficult.
The hotel is in a prime location, close to Central Park and the 72nd Street subway station, with convenient transportation. It is a quiet place in the bustling Upper West Side of Manhattan. It is highly recommended in terms of cost performance.
Attached is the street view taken from a room on the 12th floor of the hotel and the hotel front taken from W72 Street.
GGuest UserThe West Side YMCA is definitely a no frills place to stay, but the location is excellent. You're right next to Central Park and Columbus Circle. Times Square is an easy walk south. We stayed in 2 different rooms. The first had a bunk bed and was quite small, but the bed was comfy and the room was clean. It also had a small TV and fridge. We had a semi-private bathroom, which was down the hall. This meant we had to scan our key on one of the bathroom doors to get in, but once inside we had privacy while we got cleaned up. The bathrooms were kept clean and tidy. We were able to upgrade the second half of our stay to a room with a larger bed and an in room bathroom. Again, this hotel is no frills. It can be rough around the edges, but it's clean and comfortable at the end of a long day of sightseeing. We did not have time to take advantage of the gym, the pool, the sauna, and stuff like that, but they looked nice. I'd recommend the West Side YMCA. If you're visiting NYC, you should be out doing stuff, not sitting around the room. It was everything we needed it to be.
AAshley NicoleThe hotel is in an excellent location. It’s very easy to get around by walking or hopping on the metro. The hotel staff were very kind and helpful, but the hotel itself is in need of renovations (as other reviews have stated). If the hotel were to make those renovations I would stay again.
