The accommodation is good, clean, and the service is great. It's also not too far to travel to. There are minor drawbacks, such as the shower water not getting warm at all, though the bathwater was warm. No matter how I adjusted the shower, it just wouldn't get warm; turning the knob both ways only made it slightly lukewarm. This would be a bigger problem in winter, but since I visited in summer, it wasn't a huge issue. Most of the hotel food was delicious, with only a few dishes I didn't enjoy. Overall, if I return to Wulai, I'd probably stay here again.
I happened to meet the young owner during breakfast. I saw the two books he and his son created, which were very interesting. We chatted for a while, and I learned about the story behind the B&B's establishment. It's great that they opened during the pandemic and managed to pull through! I hope he can realize all his ideas here, offering even more experiences to guests! The housekeeper who served us was very kind and enthusiastic, a big thank you to her!
✅ New Taipei City|Shanshuiyan Hot Spring Resort|Review of My Stay
My overall experience at the Shanshuiyan Hot Spring Resort was quite good; it's a high-value option.
While the interior decor is a bit dated, it's kept clean, and the stay wasn't uncomfortable. The most commendable feature is their ”Beauty Bath” hot spring; after soaking, I felt completely relaxed and refreshed, with noticeably smoother skin – truly therapeutic.
Parking is convenient, so there's no need to worry about finding a spot. The surrounding environment is also quite quiet and scenic, making it a great place to unwind.
✅ Summary
✔ High Value for Money
✔ Excellent Beauty Bath, Skin Smooth After Soaking
✔ Convenient Parking
✔ Pleasant Scenery
△ Décor is a bit dated
Wu Lai is a very small town and filled with hot spring. In term of location, Tai chi Inn is a little inaccessible and facilities very basic. The owners are a old couple and they are nice. Other than that, I do not see why the room is worth the price I paid. I think if you are coming during non peak, you can walk in any inn and get a much cheaper price.
The hotel staff were incredibly attentive, even carrying our luggage to the room. Since there were three of us who are vegetarian, they thoughtfully prepared a vegetarian breakfast for us. The mountain air was fantastic, filled with the sounds of birds and insects. The surrounding scenery was absolutely beautiful. The pavilion offered a unique fortune-telling experience, and the ducks and black swans by the pond were very friendly and adorable. We truly didn't want to leave!
I stayed in a Mountain View Room facing the Nanshi River, not the corner room as advertised online, so the view was less impressive. The room showed some signs of age but was very clean, with a minibar and hot spring pool, and soothing music playing. Turndown service included incense offerings, following the Zen-inspired style of the Sun Moon Lake Hanbi Hotel.
The stay includes four meals. The late-night beef noodles were heartwarming, but the other dishes were average in taste and presentation, nothing particularly outstanding. The Western-style fried fish wasn't crispy! The coffee provided was just like the usual hotel buffet, which was a bit disappointing for the price; there are many better options nearby. 🙈
The breakfast was delicious, the room was clean and the staff were friendly. The hot tub was big and clean. I've used their private hot spring rooms before and those were also great. This time there was a new pool, which I couldn't use due to the rain, but everything was still great and perfect.
The service is excellent, and the waiter and waitress aunties are very friendly. The room has a private onsen, which makes the stay even more enjoyable. The location is a bit far from other restaurants, so it’s more recommended for guests who prefer to relax and spend most of their time inside the hotel. Overall, highly recommended for all types of guests!
The hotel has its own car park for parking.
The room is old but kept clean and tidy, but the toilet seat is scary, so I suggest you replace it. The bed is soft and comfortable.
In terms of service, the staff are friendly and the check-in and check-out procedures are efficient. The breakfast selection is rich and the restaurant environment is very comfortable.
The serious disadvantage is that the sound insulation effect is not very good. The door is not very thick so you can clearly hear the sounds in the corridor. You can also hear the sound of water being put in for a bath next door at 6am.
Overall, don't expect good soundproofing, it's a good hotel.
Our family really enjoyed our stay at Sokali Maho. The vibrant atmosphere and greenery paired with the luxurious meals and refreshing hot springs ensures peak relaxation and comfort. Moreover, the manager, Webber, along with his team consistently accommodated for our specific needs, including assisting our elderly. The exquisite natural environment complementing the broad range of amenities offered and further elevated with the exceptional professionalism of the staff, makes Sokali Maho a holiday location I would highly recommend.

KKarenCewVery nice hot springs inside hotel and in room . Comfortable bed. Breakfast is not bad . Not easy to locate hotel so better to take taxi to hotel from xindian station or city . The surroundings have 7-11 and local restaurants. But about 20 minutes walk to scenic log train or suspension bridge / old street .
