Hive 68 - Hotel and Resorts (Negombo)

Negombo|0.14km from St. Mary's Church
Hive 68 at Negombo !! is one experience I shall remember and cherish. Located in the midst of the town of Negombo, it has its advantage of being close to the airport. So, if you are getting in or getting out you could consider planning your stay here accordingly and you’d be pleased with it. About the hotel and its rooms. It’s more of a Bed and Breakfast concept. Ideal for solo or couple travellers. With kids too small I’d not recommend it.  Rooms are neat, well-spaced with decent and clean washrooms. Each room has its own mini veranda with a small sit out, overlooking the lagoon stream, the village and the beautiful St Mary church. The décor all over is kept simple, yet elegant in its own way. Request for room service as per your need and the staff, polite and very hospitable will take care of it. The beauty of Sri Lanka is experienced with the country and its people. To understand this, it is best witnessed. The morning breakfast isn’t of the buffet type, with time they could put it up as an option. You are individually served a fruit platter with a local fresh fruit juice followed by your choice of eggs, accompanied with sausages, bacon, bread toast and coffee or tea. A small yet decent portion to start off your day. The restaurant has a basic menu with mainly a mix of continental and Sri Lankan food. For drinks the local Beer and wine is a good option.A local curry rice is what I’d suggest to include as I found it missing, given the town feel. The portions again are sumptuous and filling. For its location one can explore around the town with ease. Local sight-seeing includes many churches, few temples, a fish market and a beach with a lot of tourist friendly restaurants. Sharing a few photographs of the space. Hope the above helps in choosing your stay, happy holidays and happy touring.

Regal Reseau Hotel Spa

I checked in this hotel directly after picking up the airport in Sri Lanka that day, just to sleep. The decoration of the hotel is okay, but the room facilities are relatively old, similar to domestic express hotels. There is an open-air swimming pool and bar on the top floor. Take pictures for comparison Looks good, just stay here and start your trip~

The Icebear Guesthouse

We had a brilliant stay and were so well looked after by Cristi and the team, the room was lovely and the gardens were beautiful with perfect sunsets. Had lovely breakfasts and complimentary afternoon tea. It was very handy we had a driver pick us up from the airport from here in the early hours. Had a nice boat trip on the lagoon and walked down the Dutch canals in Negombo. Lots of good restaurants and bars on the high street especially Mr Crab and Jude restaurants. Would highly recommend The Icebear Guesthouse and would stay again

In the morning, I woke up with the church bells, and then spent a minute walking to the nearby fish market and the Dutch castle. In fact, it is now a prison, and the hot day starts like this. The self-operated bread downstairs is cheap and delicious, more cost-effective than the hotel breakfast.

Hotel owners Denish and Menac are wonderful people. Very kind and caring. They met us at the airport for free, Denish brought us on his tuck-tuck to the hotel, before that he patiently waited for us 2 hours until we got our luggage. The hosts were sincerely trying to please us and take care of everything. It was very nice to meet them. In the morning we were fed on request by vegetarian dishes. The servings were large, reported the supplement. We were satisfied. Comfortable location of the hotel. A good supermarket (right on the highway) and a currency exchange bank (left on the highway) nearby if you go on the highway from the hotel. The hotel is quite a distance from the highway, it was quiet. The room is a comfortable bed with curtains from mosquitoes, a comfortable mattress, comfortable pillows. The room is a shower and toilet, hot water (has been in a room on the 2nd floor). It is a convenient option to stay for a couple of nights after the flight. We lived for 2 nights, extended for one more.
