Olanro Hotel Negombo

For a first night on arrival in Sri Lanka, the holidays promise to be complicated... We are not registered on the reservation register... difficult to make ourselves understood given the staff's level of English. But a few minutes are enough to give us a room key. The door opens... the anxiety... we didn't want a luxury room but just a clean room. What a desappointment. The air conditioning is not working, it is warmer inside than outside. The night will be very difficult given the noise level of the air conditioning, not to mention the generator, certainly at the foot of the bedroom, which is switched on because of the systematic power cuts in the country. The bad discoveries will follow. The general state of the room, worn furniture, the toilets are dirty and the shower barely flows (after 24 hours of travel, a good shower would be so appreciated). The apotheosis: the bed. The sheets are torn and stained not to mention the wall at the head of the bed, 1/2 inch of dust stuck on. Welcome to dust mite allergy sufferers! Only positive point, the swimming pool... which it at least is clean. The photos speak for themselves.
Avenra Garden Hotel

We had ourHome Coming function at Arena Artorium, Avenra Garden, Negombo with about 350 guests. They have made it unforgettable and it was nicely organised. Staff were really helpful and nice. Event Cordinator, Mr Ibrahim, gave us a remarkable service. Rooms were also up to the standards and with all the amenities. Food was mouthwatering and delicious. Recommended.
New Rani Inn

Rani and her family are such a lovely people and perfect hosts. They made us feel really welcome in Sri Lanka and gave us lots of useful tips. The room is big and comfy with the balcony and comfy bed with mosquito net. Breakfast is delicious and they can cook for you the best Sri Lankan curry 😍 We was worry at the beginning that there is no hot water but trust me - you will be glad about it cause Negombo is a hot place and cold shower is what you really need. The location is good, close to the shops, restaurant and the beach. When we back in Negombo we will definitely stay with Rani again!
Ocean View Tourist Guest House Negombo

Warm showers, great beds and the long experience of the proprietor, Mr Mark Thamel, makes for a great and safe guest house to stay in. You get the best, to the minute, travel tips there. Emails are answered quickly and your whole itinerary can be secured with Mr Thamel's knowledgeable organization. He can book hotels, find a comfortable car and experienced driver for you. Or something more impulsive where you make lodging decisions as you go. Also where to get return trip covid testing etc. You are in good hands. And the value is outstanding - I've traveled many times to Sri Lanka and his care is the best to be found - all at very reasonable price. He knows the country like the back of his hand, including all the best hotel deals, and has arranged trips to the farthest most isolated parts of the country for me. Those discoveries allowed me to experience the most authentic view of Sri Lanka possible. In my last trip this January, I mentioned to Dennis (perfect driver, totally in tune with the kind of trip I wanted) that I'd like to buy a Sri Lankan nativity creche. Dennis phoned Mr Thamel and he had it waiting for me at the end of my trip. You wont just get a travel planner and guest house proprietor, you will get a true friend in Sri Lanka. I was so lucky the day I first contacted him.
