We had a wonderful time at the Outrigger after a horrible two years where our family was separated due to Covid. My wife lives in Oz with our 5 yr old and I live in the UK so after a very difficult time in our lives we wanted somewhere special to help us reconnect and rediscover our family. The Outrigger is not without its faults, food should be roughly about 10% cheaper than it is for you to feel you’re getting decent value, and service, while always attentive and friendly, was a bit inconsistent (an hour between ordering and being served dinner one night and a similar experience a couple of times waiting for drinks at the pool) but these are minor quibbles in the grander scheme of things. The hotel is beautiful and charming. I disagree with other reviewers who say it needs an upgrade, we were in a plantation bure and had no complaints at all. The staff, to a person, are wonderful and it all appears authentic, not Disney style forced smiles and politeness but real, honest interactions and, it seems, an enthusiasm for the service they provide. Kids club is lovely and we were able to split the time our 5 year old spent there with some family time with all of us. He was never bored and we had some lovely, relaxing, child-free afternoons and evenings as well as fun times all three of us at the pool and beach. You can be as active or as lazy as you like, if you fancy trying snorkelling, kayaking, paddle boarding or a game of tennis (court or table) all these options are open to you. And the food, although a bit pricey as I say, was always very good. We stayed away from the buffet as it’s just not our thing but ate in every other restaurant and they were all lovely. The curry and noodles at the pool bar were great, which we only discovered on the last day. Kids meals are decent and good value. Overall I would say if you’re looking for a memorable Fijian resort holiday at a beautiful resort, don’t hesitate to book.
