Nantong Marriott Hotel

The hotel lobby is elegantly designed, and the scent is very sophisticated. Front desk staff Xiao Gu upgraded my room to one with large floor-to-ceiling windows, making it exceptionally bright. Drawing back the curtains reveals a view of Zilang Lake outside. Any issues I had during my stay were promptly addressed, and the service was excellent.

Our home was getting new beds, so I spontaneously decided to take my child for a two-night stay, and I never expected to have such a wonderfully relaxing parent-child time at the Marriott. The most pleasant surprise during this stay was Ivy at the front desk, who thoughtfully upgraded us to an executive suite for free. The moment we opened the door, the spacious room, bright floor-to-ceiling windows, and the expansive view of Zilang Lake outside instantly made us feel at ease. There was also a small incident that made my impression of this hotel soar even higher. Since I had to get up early for a planned activity one day and was worried about oversleeping on another, I hadn't booked breakfast when making the reservation. This morning, however, my child really wanted to have the hotel breakfast, and I was looking a mess and really didn't want to go downstairs, so I told her to go to the restaurant and buy one herself. To my surprise, when the restaurant staff heard the situation, they actually let my child have it for free! This unexpected act of kindness truly touched me. The only minor regret is that my child brought her swimsuit for nothing. We had planned to go swimming in the heated pool, but my child kept procrastinating with her homework and ran out of time, so we never made it. Well, there's always next time.

Stayed at the Nantong Marriott again on the last weekend of May. This time, I was on the 8th floor, directly facing Zilang Lake. The room had a comfortable bed, and when the weather got hot, extra water was quickly brought to the room. In the afternoon, a welcome fruit platter was also provided. From the underground parking garage to the lobby, the staff immediately greeted and guided me through check-in with great enthusiasm. The front desk小姐姐 (a polite way to refer to a young female staff member) was also very friendly and arranged a room with an even better central view. The hotel's Chinese restaurant had delicious food, and in the evening, the musical fountain downstairs made it feel like a real vacation.

The hotel was very clean, and the soundproofing was excellent. After checking in, there's a dedicated butler service to assist guests.

The hotel facilities are very new, clean, and tidy. The front desk staff, Xiao Sun, was very thoughtful and helped us upgrade our room. The recreational area is comfortably furnished. It was a great experience to walk around and relax in the hotel after a long day.

For a Marriott, I was surprised there was no Nespresso machine, just an empty box. And the floor was quite dusty.

The May Day holiday has happily ended, and it's great that the hotel's holiday prices didn't increase much. I booked two rooms for my parents and me. The view facing Zilang Lake is quite nice, and Zilang Xintiandi is just a seven or eight-minute walk away, making dining very convenient. There's also a restaurant downstairs in the hotel, and a Yuxingji noodle shop.

Arrived past 4 PM, and the rooms weren't ready. It took almost half an hour of nagging to get two rooms, and the third wasn't ready until sunset. To make matters worse, when we finally got into the third room around 10 PM, it was dirty. There was a rag with feces and urine stains on the sink! They didn't arrange a replacement room until 10:30 PM, by which point everyone was exhausted. We had six adults and one child across three rooms, and I requested three latex pillows a day in advance – that's not unreasonable, right? But they arbitrarily reduced it to just one without any consultation, causing an elderly person with a cervical spine condition to lose sleep. What gives?!

The hotel breakfast offers a good variety, and the beef noodles are delicious. However, both check-in and check-out processes are quite slow, and they don't support express check-out, which can be inconvenient if you're in a hurry. On the plus side, it's very convenient to visit Zilang Flower Valley and the nearby park.
