We stayed at Ushiyado, a lovely small hostel in Nakashibetsu. The whole place was unbelievably clean, tidy, and very well organised. It also felt extremely safe, especially for solo female travellers. The owner has a cow farm, so guests can enjoy free fresh milk, which was a very nice touch. They also provide bread in the morning. Everything is explained clearly, so you know exactly what to do during your stay. There is a beautiful shared kitchen and a refrigerator where guests can keep their food and write their names on it. The common area has a warm and friendly atmosphere. We met travellers from different parts of the world, and one evening we all sat together and played Uno. It was a simple but memorable stay, and the friendly community feeling made it very special.
