Mitani Ryokan

This is a very Japanese-style hotel, seemingly run by the owners themselves, with no staff. Breakfast is optional, and I was surprised by its abundance. The shared bathrooms, however, took some getting used to.

I was surprised at the variety of breakfast items available. They were all very delicious.

I had originally booked the Shirahama Sanso Onsen Hotel, but due to the earthquake and tsunami, I reluctantly canceled the reservation. I still wanted to experience a Japanese-style B&B, so I chose the Sanwa Ryokan in Nagahama. Nagahama is a city with a rich cultural heritage. It is located next to Lake Biwa and is the hometown of Toyotomi Hideyoshi. Every spring, children perform kabuki in a parade on floats. The hotel hostess proudly introduced that her son had also performed on a float. The hotel is very Japanese style, but the inconvenience is that there is no private bathroom. The boss couple is very welcoming and tries their best to meet our needs. The boss lady's laughter as she greeted and saw off guests was endless, which was very impressive. I have to think about this when I get older.

Staying in this hotel can be said to be the most correct and warmest decision I made during my entire trip around Lake Biwa. It’s a bit long to write, but the key points are at the end. If you are not in a hurry, you can read it carefully😄 This is an authentic Japanese-style family hotel run by a friendly couple who appear to be half-old. The hotel is located next to Kuromon Market, a quiet place in the bustle, very close to the market and Otsuji Temple ~ The interior environment of the hotel is surprisingly good. The original appearance of the old machiya is preserved on the outside. When you walk in, you find that the decoration is not old-fashioned, elegant and refined, and it is an old Japanese-style hotel with good aesthetics. The decoration of the toilet and bathroom is also very modern, the equipment is new, very shocking, well maintained, even better than many Japanese business hotels I have stayed in. There is a small courtyard outside the Japanese-style room where I live, which is unique. The breakfast at the hotel is also quite rich and has a wide variety. Many of them are local ingredients from Lake Biwa. The taste is also good. Highly recommended~ Here comes the point! The host and hostess of Mitani Inn are super warm and polite! After learning that I was a foreigner, they took great care of me! When we went to Nagahama Pier and Otsuji Temple, the host took the initiative to lead the way. He also introduced the famous products of Nagahama along the way. The male host’s hair was a little gray but full of energy. He must be very fond of the customs of Nagahama~ Before leaving, the two shopkeepers They also gave me a set of postcards from the Nagahama Hikiyama Festival. What a lovely couple😄 I was traveling alone and chose this hotel by mistake. I didn't expect it to be the biggest surprise of my trip. My stay in Changbin was very short, just one day and one night, and the weather was not good and it mostly rained. But luckily I met Mitani Hotel, and my memory of Changbin is as tender as spring rain. I wish the owner and his wife good health and success~ If I pass by Changbin in the future, if time permits, I will deliberately stay a few more nights at Mitani Hotel~

The food was delicious and I was able to relax. I was able to work, but next time I'd like to come for sightseeing. There was a lot of snow, but they gave me a ride home.

歴史と趣のある家屋ですが、内装はリノベーションされており清潔です。庭もきれいでした。 商店街の中に位置しており観光にもうってつけのロケーションです。 ご夫婦で経営なさっているようでしたが、非常に心地の良い対応をしてくださり、快適な宿泊でした。朝食はたいへん品数が多くとても美味しかったです。 設備やアメニティも十分満足いくものでしたが、個人的には布団のマットレスが後もう少し柔らかい方が好みです。
