I stayed at the Ryonkan during my bike tour around Lake Biwa and booked the small single room. It was really small, but perfectly fine for the price. Unfortunately, I couldn't add dinner on, and there wasn't a single restaurant open anywhere nearby. The staff offered to drive me to the supermarket, but I didn't want to cause any trouble. In the evening, they bought me a little something to eat and brought it to my room – that was really thoughtful, thank you so much! The public bath has a beautiful view of the lake, and I was able to admire the sunset – wonderful! The small room faces the street, where the traffic noise is very loud until late at night and again from early morning. This might be a problem for light sleepers. Otherwise, everything was good; there were yukatas in the room and also some extra pretty ones to choose from in the hallway.

Excellent views, terrace and private outdoor spa. The room is large, with a massage chair and telescope, so you can watch the waterfowl outside. The food is delicious and the service staff can speak English.

The view from the room is good, and the hot springs and open-air bath in the room are also good. I will come back when I have time.

we loved our japanese style room, very spacious and great view, and we enjoyed the massage chair very much. both dinners served in the room and in the restaurant were memorable. Miss Singh was very friendly and attentive. And thanks to the manager who made other dinner reservation for us.

We came here for two nights and had a very memorable stay. We were picked up at the rail station. The arrival at the hotel was also very friendly and welcoming. The Biwa lake, the view from the room and the (japanese) room itself were just breathtakig. Also, the bathtub in the room and the japanese interior were very enjoyable. The japanese dinner with several courses and japanese breakfast were simply incredible. We had a wonderful stay here at the Biwa lake. The stay here at this slghtly remote but very special Ryokan was just awesome. We loved everything so much. We were very sad on Checkout day to leave Beniayu. We'd like to thank the very professional and friendly staff and also the Hotel Manager Mr Kimura for the kindness and the hard work.

Very nice view of the lake. Very helpful staff. The rooms have a private onsen hot tub on the balcony. The rooms have tatami and are set up to sleep on the floor. You can request a bed frame to elevate the futon, but it's better to request a bed when making the reservation (although you may enjoy sleeping on a futon, Japanese style).
