First off, you’ll see from my Trip Advisor profile that I am a very generous with positive reviews. So, when I rate a place two stars there’s a reason. The stay started off with an unfriendly desk clerk. Seemed to have a chip on his shoulder about something. When I inquired about a status upgrade he made a comment about giving us a city view room. I asked “is city view good in an Oceanside resort”? He then laughed and said “no”! What was the purpose of that?? Charged a resort fee despite my reservation stating all taxes and fees were included. The walls are very thin. We were put in a room with an adjoining room door (not requested) and starting early in the morning there was loud conversation going on for so long that I gave up trying to sleep. Housekeeping showed up before 9 AM and started banging on the door. The rooms are dated and the fridge is so small I couldn’t fit the food from my cooler in it. I requested a late checkout and they refused. Normally our status would allow us a 2PM checkout. She said they were laying carpet and couldn’t give us one. I really expect more from IHG.

We have stayed here several times while visiting the Myrtle Beach area. It is very conveniently located right off 17 in Murrel's Inlet south away from the tourist swarms, madness and traffic of Myrtle Beach itself. Usual good hot breakfast, friendly staff, pleasant hot tub/spa (outdoors) for afternoon soaking after a day out on the town. Clean rooms, housekeeping every 4th day or by request on long stays. Many area food places close by. The street behind hotel goes to 707 which allows you to get more quickly across the jam packed area. Front driveway off 17 enters only from north so have to go around the block if coming from the south, like Pawley's Island or such. Quiet, peaceful more mature guests. Can't go wrong.

The GOOD - 1. Location, does not get better than this at Myrtle Beach. This is located at the end of the 'strip of myrtle beach' as is away from the crowds on Ocean blvd. 2. The hotel is well made in terms of design. Whatever you need is located at a convenient spot. Parking is close to the rooms in both the buildings, but costs you $10/night. 3. Good sleep quality, I got a good 8-hour sleep The BAD - 1. Condition of the rooms is awful. The carpet is the dirtiest I have ever seen in any hotel. Imagine the amount of dirt they hold and the air you will breathe inside the room! 2. No USB points. Clearly indicates that the hotel has not been upgraded for decades. Luckily, found one USB point in the alarm clock. 3. Room Service - The rooms are cleaned only when requested. I requested. The guy came, vacuumed the room, made the bed and left! Did not even collect the used towels from the floor or place new toiletries. The towels remained in the room until our check out. The UGLY - 1. Pool - Dirty pools and Ian (hurricane) was the excuse. Most other ocean front hotels had clean pools with people in them. The pools in this property were filled with filth and insects. The lazy river is actually the 'dirty river'. The pool was so called ”cleaned” after I complained, but it was still very dirty, so I just avoided to get in it. 2. Property Maintenance - This could potentially be the best resort in MB but it is so poorly maintained, it's a shame! One of the employees at Hilton Grand Vacations told me in this trip that this is meant to be the ”overflow property” of Hilton in MB and because it is so poor, it might be stripped off of the Hilton badge next year; can't say if it was true, but clearly indicates that employees are aware of the condition of this resort. Had this been a properly maintained resort, I would have stayed here during all my visits to MB, but I aint coming back!
