Renovation work off to the side of the main reception desk should be over soon. The rest of the hotel was fine.
My room was comfy, and the central pool area between wings of the hotel is sheltered and relaxing. (Try to get a room overlooking the CENTRAL garden, if possible. Mine looked at a dusty backside tennis court and utility area. There was sea beyond that, however.)
As an alternative to the pricey breakfast buffet, the nearby French Bakery is one of the few off-site food venues. It has a variety of food besides coffee and pastries and is open till late.
If one has a car, it's a fine location (Shati Al-Qurum). If one doesn't, getting around is all by taxi, and there are few services or dining options within easy walking distance in this diplomatic quarter.
A relaxing, full-service get-away if a family just wants a self-contained vacation resort and is happy to pay more for in-hotel meals.
