Traveling with Overseas Adventure Travel (OAT) we were booked into this beautiful little lodge consisting of only 8 cabins. The lodge is only a 20 minute drive from the gorilla trekking HQ and 5 minutes from the golden monkeys. The rooms are quaintly furnished with no amenities overlooked. The only watch out is that the only heating is a wood burning fireplace which they light for you each night and a hot water bottle in your bed so bring some warm clothes. Three meals are prepared daily in the lovely dining room. The food is excellent—a combination of international cuisine and local dishes. The most amazing thing about the hotel, however, is the staff. They will do anything to make you happy including cleaning your shoes after a day of gorilla-trekking followed by a foot massage! There is also a separate room for a more traditional full body massage. Saveur manages the dining room in the most charming and efficient manner imaginable while Mary and Sharon manage guest services. Both are totally adorable. One evening we were also entertained by a troop of local dancers doing the traditional “intore”. DO NOT MISS THIS PLACE! The prices are very reasonable for a lodging experience not to be forgotten.
