Excellent
MMaria E FagerheimGreat homestay with friendly and serviceminded hosts
The Dengfeng Youlu Homestay was a very nice experience and can be highly recommended.
The rooms were very clean and modern. Spacious and with comfortable beds. The bathroom was also modern with nice amenities.
The location is a little outside the city, but closer to the main attractions to Mount Song. So easy to reach with taxi. We found the location very good and convenient since we wanted to go to the scenic areas.
We had breakfast included and found it very tasty and nice. It was plain and fresh and a nice selection of nutritious food before starting the day.
The service was very good. The hosts didn’t speak much English, but we used translator apps so absolutely no problem for foreigners.
The Dengfeng Youlu honestly has a nice compound with a Chinese garden. They also have a pool. It looks very comfy and cosy to sit and enjoy the garden, but we were there in beginning January so it was wintertime. The room we got had nice view of the garden and the mountains.
We can for sure recommend this homestay and we think the reviews written so fare are very correct.
GGuest UserThe room was clean and the facilities were new. While the guesthouse's exterior was a bit rustic, the interior was quite nice. However, I have a few observations:
1. Although the hotel is located near the parking lot entrance, it's still quite a distance from there to the Shaolin Temple ticket office by car. You'll need to drive or arrange a shuttle service from the guesthouse, which doesn't offer much advantage for self-driving tourists. Moreover, there are almost no commercial amenities around the guesthouse, so you're pretty much limited to eating on-site.
2. The room was advertised as 25 square meters, but I'm not sure what standard they're using for that. It felt significantly smaller than a 25 sqm room at hotels like All Seasons or Atour; it was so small that we couldn't open two suitcases at the same time.
3. The mahjong room next door was quite noisy, which interfered with watching TV in the evenings.
4. Breakfast was very simple with limited options.
Overall, for a price of nearly 500 yuan per night on a non-holiday, non-weekend (Friday/Saturday) stay, I found the value for money to be low.
KKaiputengyangIn fact, quite by chance, I arrived at this very mountain-like B&B. The boss has the style of a hermit. Although he doesn't talk much, he is very sincere. Objectively speaking, the details of the room are very good, and the linens are all hotel-level. Although there was a slight problem with bath water, it was quickly resolved.
It's very quiet here, except for the sound of wind and cicadas, there are only the sounds of kittens and dogs. There is a path leading into the mountain at the back. The lack of water during the dry season is probably the only regret. This place is connected to standard provincial highways and standardized roads. At the end of the road is the parking lot of the B&B. When you reach his house, your mobile phone will lose signal. Just connect to the boss's wifi as soon as possible. It is less than a 25-minute drive from Shaolin Temple, Zen Shaolin and other famous attractions. Even if you dine late in the city, you can get back here in no time. The road passing by Tangyao Village is quite bumpy for a while, and the traffic problem should not delay it for too long. The direct route to here is actually in the mountain nest. It is quite pleasant to live quietly for a few days and enjoy the tranquility between heaven and earth. The parent-child room for a family of four is quite satisfactory, but next time, I want to experience the private courtyard. I look forward to having a tea party with the boss next time. Love in early autumn, peace!
Tips: The last two are recommended by the boss, the Chu Zu'an Main Hall, and the Yongtai Zen Temple near the B&B. As a lover of ancient architecture, it is a worthwhile trip to appreciate the ancients while raising children. 🤣
RRongxuanThe hotel environment is fantastic, with elegant and sophisticated new Chinese-style decor. The rooms are clean and spacious, and the three-part bathroom is spotless. The soundproofing is excellent, and the bedding is soft and comfortable, ensuring a peaceful night's sleep. The front desk service is warm and attentive, and the facilities are comprehensive. The location is also very convenient. As a solo traveler, I felt completely safe, and the value for money is outstanding.
BBuhuishuoderenThis is one of the best hotels in the area. It's very close to the Grand Music Ceremony, Shaolin Temple, Songshan Scenic Area, and the city center – all just a ten-minute drive away. The room was quiet, and I could see Mount Songshan. The service was also good. I didn't take any hotel photos, so I'll just use three pictures from the Songshan Scenic Area to fill in. A couple of final thoughts: staying here was great, but exploring the area is quite a workout for your legs!
GGuest UserAll in all we are quite satisfied with our short stay. We haven't used any of the hotel amenities like swimming pool or restaurant, so it's impossible to comment upon them. However, we'd like to say thank you to the stuff that is available any time. It turned out that one faucet didn't work properly and we only found it out at around 11 p.m. We called service number and the problem was solved within 10 minutes. One more pleasant thing is the pillow menu) The beds are generally very comfortable (unlike in many other Chinese hotels), but you still can choose an orthopedic pillow to your liking. That was very nice! Location is good (around 15 min to the mountain park entrance and to the bus station).
Unfortunately, we are not very happy with the view. (It was a mountain view room). Yes, we saw a pagoda and the mountains, but also the construction site right below our windows. Workes started their day at around 7 a.m., which was clearly heard in our room. In addition, there's some soft music constantly playing in the corridor. Definitely not for those who are sensitive to extra sounds.
GGuest UserI brought my parents to Dengfeng for a weekend trip to Mount Song, and after comparing several options, we chose Zhongzhou Huading Hotel. As soon as we entered, we were captivated by the hotel's traditional Chinese architectural style. It's a garden-style hotel that combines a restaurant and accommodation. Upon entering the lobby, a concierge immediately helped us with our luggage and directed us to the front desk for check-in. Ms. Jiao Luyu at the front desk assisted us, providing smiling service throughout. She answered all our questions, helped coordinate our rooms, and processed everything quickly and with a very friendly attitude. After dinner at the restaurant, we returned to our room, which offered views of the Songshan mountain range. Enjoying tea on the balcony was incredibly relaxing. The hotel is also very close to Mount Song and Shaolin Temple, making it convenient for driving. I'll definitely choose this hotel again when I visit Dengfeng.
GGuest UserThe hotel is well-equipped, clean and tidy, with considerate and warm service. The surrounding environment is very good. The hotel is in a prime location, close to the scenic spots, and opposite is the Tagou Martial Arts School, which is very convenient for traveling and seeing children.
GGaia.CThe hotel is very clean and elegant, our room was spacious, well decorated and equipped. The bed was very big and comfortable. Healthy breakfast served in the room at preferred time.
The staff is friendly and polite, we even tried the spa service and it was very pleasant.
Close to all the main attractions, it’s a good deal for its price.

GGuest UserVery friendly and helpful staff. One person spoke some English which made things a little easier for me. It's a quick taxi ride to Songshan. It's not really in a location to walk to places so I think it's best if you have your own car. The taxi driver and 'other' drivers do like to overcharge tourists. Getting off at the bus station and being harassed by drivers was unpleasant and gave Dengfeng a bad feeling. There is no train so unless you have a car, you'll also have this unpleasant experience. Dengfeng is quite nice just the welcome is unfortunate. The hotel staff were wonderful, and the room was spacious. I loved the little table by the window, very pleasant. The restaurant across from the parking lot has tasty food and very reasonable priced.
