We arrived at 4 pm and checked in after 7 pm. The front desk said that the hotel system has crashed, everyone can't check in, and they can't give a time when it can be restored. The location of the hotel is very good, you can walk to the aquarium, but the room facilities are outdated and need to be updated. The toilet was always beeping and the shower water wouldn't leak. If you’re looking for a solid place to crash when you’re in Monterey, you can’t beat this hotel. The rooms are simple yet updated. The service is great and you can’t beat the price. The room has always been clean and it’s in a great location. The only downside is no breakfast (because of covid) and there aren’t many amenities. It exceeds any expectations compared to the price though!

The hotel is by the road. Breakfast is a simple American style. The bedding was not good. When I checked in, one of the pillows was wet and the pillows felt bulging when they slept. The bed was high, and the mattress was covered with a waterproof and airtight bed cover, which was not breathable at all. Sleeping on the bed was sweating, and there were creaks when turning over. The chill fan in the room is noisy.

This hotel is all about the service. Their staff are amazingly helpful and friendly. Their breakfast was more than I expected and they have a more than adequate spread. I had the twin family room with a fireplace. The room is a very good size. I did not use the fireplace as they had an electric heater and that was sufficient for me. The only issue with the room might be in the warmer months as they don't have air-conditioning and only have one ceiling fan. But given I was there in November , I was comfortable in the room. Although the hotel is a bit old, the room was well maintained and the bed was very comfortable. The hotel is in a good location as its less than 10 mins walk to the downtown restaurants and shops. You pretty much can walk to most places from the hotel in about 15 mins or so. I will come back when I am in Monterey again. At this price , they are a very food option and I am glad I chose to stay here.

Very comfortable hotel conveniently located in downtown Monterey and short distance from 17 Mile Drive. Rooms are spacious and staff is very friendly. Room amenities are: individual sized coffee pot and mini fridge as well as standard hair dryer, toiletries and iron. Microwaves can be delivered to your room by request at no additional cost. The Marriott has a bar and serves breakfast (not included in room rate) and other meals. It is connected to the Monterey Convention Center so if you are attending a conference, this is the best place to be. If you need parking, be aware, only valet parking is available at $40 per day with in and out privileges. There are a couple parking garages with hourly rates within a couple block walk, they do not have in and out privileges. Valet service takes about 10-15 minutes to get your car depending on time of day. Mornings were a little longer wait. Wifi is not free unless you are a Bonvoy Member, you can sign up on the spot. Would stay here again.
