"Very dissapointing. Got our booking wrong, suggested we book somewhere else, but took the deposit. When I wanted my refund, quickly they could accomodate us. Montagu Springs need an urgent upgrade, everything in chalets is old and outdated. This has been like this for the past 13years, as in 2012 was my first visit and everything is still exactly the same. The tennis courts need an urgent upgrade as well. Everythig is falling apart and dilapitated, in winter the gas geysers didnt work and we had to take ice cold showers. They allow boom boxes and this is a huge disturbance to other people. The place has so much potential, great location and great for kids, but they need to keep their maintenance up."

"The hotel was recommended by a friend who visits Montagu regularly. Very warm welcome on arrival and we were shown to our room which is located We booked Luxury Victorian which was located in a separate building (originally a separate home) which was fabulous, a large double volume room with a large adjoined bathroom (walk in shower and freestanding Victorian bath tub). The only downside was the sound ingression from the authentic doors and wooden passage. The pool and garden area is an ideal space to relax and enjoy the day. The hotel is furnished in an art deco style, with a restaurant called Charlestons and a Bootlegger coffee shop. And there is secure on-site parking as well. We had a truly lovely stay at this charming hotel, perfectly located in the centre of Montagu. We would highly recommend if you are going to stay in Montagu."

"It does the name justice with the best Mountain View’s in town. We wish we had stayed at a busier and sunnier time, as we were the only guests. I can only imagine the atmosphere with sundowners on the roof terrace deck. Unfortunately it was a bit windy when we stayed. The beds are comfortable, rooms are spacious and clean. The host, Maud, was lovey and very welcoming providing excellent breakfast to order. Close walk to town and off-street parking."

"A beautiful serene setting for a breakaway. Ramps are a bit steep but doable with help. They have x1 wheelchair accessible room. The one I stayed in needs the front bars removed from the wash basin so your knees can go under. A toilet raiser seat for paraplaegics is required & bar/grab rails. The shower is huge but needs a shower chair. Service of staff & owner is impeccable."

"We really enjoyed our stay at this authentic small guest farm. The little playground with direct contact to some of the farm animals (sheep & goose) was definitely an extra for the little one. We only can imagine how great it must be in the summertime with the pooldecks. But for wintertime the hot springs (Avalon) in Montague are just a short car ride away and we went there for a day. Town itself is very small, they took care of this with early info to do table reservations. - the breakfast was extraordinary good with homemade bread and several marmalades from farm fruits. Eventhough it was a bit rainy our days we absolutely enjoyed this accommodation!"

"First up, we arrived in Montagu on a Sunday for one overnight stay, so virtually everything was closed except the lodge restaurant and a restaurant across the street where we had a nice lunch. There's a nice bakery/cafe on the main street but it closed at 4.00pm. We had dinner in the hotel and the food was ok. I had a nice lamb shank but my wife's chicken schnitzel was on the dry side, but not a major issue. Breakfast was fine, not the best we've had on this trip, but we both ate our fill and enjoyed it. The staff were welcoming and very helpful. There is ample parking here, a nice outside seating area for meals or to relax, and there was a bar towards the rear of the lodge. It is an older building and if you read the history of the building it's had a varied and colourful past. The stairs are steep, narrow and a challenge if you're lugging big cases with you. There's a lot of dark wood and because of the wooden floors, it is a noisy building. It has a lot of "character". That said, you should not be put off booking here. It has some nice features like the upstairs veranda that runs the width of the building."
