The environment is fantastic and the room is quite good. It contains two meals, so this price is not expensive. However, since I didn't know if the room was good when I booked it, I didn't dare to order more, only booked for one day. I found it very good after I checked in. I hope that when I continue to live, the other party tells me that I am full, sorry. However, this is a great place to spend a holiday and enjoy the sun and the beach. I have stayed at several hotels in Mombasa and this is one of the best.

My order includes the dinner on the day of the check-in and the next-day brunch. The dinner is good. The breakfast was not eaten. Let's talk about lunch. The hotel check-in time starts at 13:00 and the check-out time is 10:00 the next day. My lunch. Just being "corrupted", is there a refund? The hotel environment is good, swimming in the yard, monkeys, lizards, all kinds of birds... very close to the beach, very pleasant at night. The service is not bad. It is not allowed to wear shorts for dining, and to change the trousers for the room. It is understandable to be gentlemanly. In the morning, you can see the sunrise of the Indian Ocean, praise one! The room is full of British plugs, only the bathroom has a two-hole Chinese plug, it is recommended to bring your own conversion plug.

Our travel agent made a booking for us at this hotel. Everything went wrong from time of checking in till checking out making a 5 night stay look like a 5 year prison sentence. To start with, we arrived rather early at 9am due to our early morning flight. We were made to sit at a mosquito infested reception as we waited (we would expect to be put in a courtesy room, since it's clear we were clients). After a lot of proding, we were moved to an empty hot conference room, as we needed to work in the meantime, instead of being feasted on by mosquitoes. Then I was checked in at 11am into a room with Zero wi fi connectivity (because it's too far from reception to relieve Wi Fi - what an excuse!) I was forced to buy Wi Fi. By noon, I was very hungry due to the early morning but there was no restaurant to serve, I had to endure hunger pangs. The room looks like a luxurious cell in Prison Break, with uncomfortable seats, dusty beddings, a high bed with a slice of a mattress, toilets that flush badly, beat up showers, salty water as courtesy room water, TV that is poorly tuned to free to air... The hotel blocks look like the dilapidated abandoned Mobutu Palace which use a manual key and lock, AC that blows more hot than cold... Barely somewhere u could do anything for work. I later found out it has some rules like a maximum prison.... you cannot have someone from outside go past lobby, and should you incur a bill, you are nagged to pay as soon as you incur instead of at checkout.... As if you plan to escape (I hope the prison analogy now makes sense). At the restaurant, they serve fermented cold milk, and if you complain to the waiters, instead of correcting, they justify that it is freshly delivered (it's me tasting it all wrong). The waiters themselves have the stance of death row prisoners with nothing to loose! At check out, it's like u have to clear with the lead guard (cashier) instead of a polite receptionist ensuring your bills are in order. In the end, it was a pleasure checking out and not checking in, and I regret ever having the hotel booked for me by the dammed travel agent (who probably got a higher commission on this hotel than genuine 4 & 5 star.

My review is for someone who wants nothing but the truth as I wish someone had written before I went there. My husband and I stayed 10 days too long at Cowrie Shell Beach apartments, its probably the only regret I have of this year. I'll summarize experience and service: Curtains and Blinds, were extremely dirty. House cleaning was done everyday but it was basically making the bed, taking out the trash and mopping with strong bleach. I doubt they washed the sinks or bathroom. Sometimes we would see what we left on the floor at the exact same spot after cleaning. In my 10 days there I never saw the pool cleaned. SO I never went in. Water would run out at night... had to shower before 7 pm to avoid nasty surprises. Bed would move when you moved. Leaky arabian shower. Not regular replacement of sheets and towels unless requested. I wouldn't suggest it as a family friendly place as it was mostly foreigners with their local side pieces. Some rented it to have parties so there would be heavy pool partying and loud music through the night. Check out was horrible as the regular front desk lady was not there. It was me and an Asian man fuming at the guy in the front desk (substitute for the regular lady) who seemed unfazed by our troubles. He wasn't bothered by my complaints but chased after me because I had forgotten to pay 300 for a broken glass. Not the best beach front with tons of sea**** and beach boys. Pros They generally address whatever concerns you have in a timely manner. Seemed pretty safe. They would usually have water refilled by 6 am. The regular front desk ladies seem nice and know how to operate the place.

Our travel agent made a booking for us at this hotel. Everything went wrong from time of checking in till checking out making a 5 night stay look like a 5 year prison sentence. To start with, we arrived rather early at 9am due to our early morning flight. We were made to sit at a mosquito infested reception as we waited (we would expect to be put in a courtesy room, since it's clear we were clients). After a lot of proding, we were moved to an empty hot conference room, as we needed to work in the meantime, instead of being feasted on by mosquitoes. Then I was checked in at 11am into a room with Zero wi fi connectivity (because it's too far from reception to relieve Wi Fi - what an excuse!) I was forced to buy Wi Fi. By noon, I was very hungry due to the early morning but there was no restaurant to serve, I had to endure hunger pangs. The room looks like a luxurious cell in Prison Break, with uncomfortable seats, dusty beddings, a high bed with a slice of a mattress, toilets that flush badly, beat up showers, salty water as courtesy room water, TV that is poorly tuned to free to air... The hotel blocks look like the dilapidated abandoned Mobutu Palace which use a manual key and lock, AC that blows more hot than cold... Barely somewhere u could do anything for work. I later found out it has some rules like a maximum prison.... you cannot have someone from outside go past lobby, and should you incur a bill, you are nagged to pay as soon as you incur instead of at checkout.... As if you plan to escape (I hope the prison analogy now makes sense). At the restaurant, they serve fermented cold milk, and if you complain to the waiters, instead of correcting, they justify that it is freshly delivered (it's me tasting it all wrong). The waiters themselves have the stance of death row prisoners with nothing to loose! At check out, it's like u have to clear with the lead guard (cashier) instead of a polite receptionist ensuring your bills are in order. In the end, it was a pleasure checking out and not checking in, and I regret ever having the hotel booked for me by the dammed travel agent (who probably got a higher commission on this hotel than genuine 4 & 5 star.

My order includes the dinner on the day of the check-in and the next-day brunch. The dinner is good. The breakfast was not eaten. Let's talk about lunch. The hotel check-in time starts at 13:00 and the check-out time is 10:00 the next day. My lunch. Just being "corrupted", is there a refund? The hotel environment is good, swimming in the yard, monkeys, lizards, all kinds of birds... very close to the beach, very pleasant at night. The service is not bad. It is not allowed to wear shorts for dining, and to change the trousers for the room. It is understandable to be gentlemanly. In the morning, you can see the sunrise of the Indian Ocean, praise one! The room is full of British plugs, only the bathroom has a two-hole Chinese plug, it is recommended to bring your own conversion plug.

My review is for someone who wants nothing but the truth as I wish someone had written before I went there. My husband and I stayed 10 days too long at Cowrie Shell Beach apartments, its probably the only regret I have of this year. I'll summarize experience and service: Curtains and Blinds, were extremely dirty. House cleaning was done everyday but it was basically making the bed, taking out the trash and mopping with strong bleach. I doubt they washed the sinks or bathroom. Sometimes we would see what we left on the floor at the exact same spot after cleaning. In my 10 days there I never saw the pool cleaned. SO I never went in. Water would run out at night... had to shower before 7 pm to avoid nasty surprises. Bed would move when you moved. Leaky arabian shower. Not regular replacement of sheets and towels unless requested. I wouldn't suggest it as a family friendly place as it was mostly foreigners with their local side pieces. Some rented it to have parties so there would be heavy pool partying and loud music through the night. Check out was horrible as the regular front desk lady was not there. It was me and an Asian man fuming at the guy in the front desk (substitute for the regular lady) who seemed unfazed by our troubles. He wasn't bothered by my complaints but chased after me because I had forgotten to pay 300 for a broken glass. Not the best beach front with tons of sea**** and beach boys. Pros They generally address whatever concerns you have in a timely manner. Seemed pretty safe. They would usually have water refilled by 6 am. The regular front desk ladies seem nice and know how to operate the place.

Our travel agent made a booking for us at this hotel. Everything went wrong from time of checking in till checking out making a 5 night stay look like a 5 year prison sentence. To start with, we arrived rather early at 9am due to our early morning flight. We were made to sit at a mosquito infested reception as we waited (we would expect to be put in a courtesy room, since it's clear we were clients). After a lot of proding, we were moved to an empty hot conference room, as we needed to work in the meantime, instead of being feasted on by mosquitoes. Then I was checked in at 11am into a room with Zero wi fi connectivity (because it's too far from reception to relieve Wi Fi - what an excuse!) I was forced to buy Wi Fi. By noon, I was very hungry due to the early morning but there was no restaurant to serve, I had to endure hunger pangs. The room looks like a luxurious cell in Prison Break, with uncomfortable seats, dusty beddings, a high bed with a slice of a mattress, toilets that flush badly, beat up showers, salty water as courtesy room water, TV that is poorly tuned to free to air... The hotel blocks look like the dilapidated abandoned Mobutu Palace which use a manual key and lock, AC that blows more hot than cold... Barely somewhere u could do anything for work. I later found out it has some rules like a maximum prison.... you cannot have someone from outside go past lobby, and should you incur a bill, you are nagged to pay as soon as you incur instead of at checkout.... As if you plan to escape (I hope the prison analogy now makes sense). At the restaurant, they serve fermented cold milk, and if you complain to the waiters, instead of correcting, they justify that it is freshly delivered (it's me tasting it all wrong). The waiters themselves have the stance of death row prisoners with nothing to loose! At check out, it's like u have to clear with the lead guard (cashier) instead of a polite receptionist ensuring your bills are in order. In the end, it was a pleasure checking out and not checking in, and I regret ever having the hotel booked for me by the dammed travel agent (who probably got a higher commission on this hotel than genuine 4 & 5 star.

This hotel has its own beach and night and night security is very beautiful and very safe, the price of seafood restaurant is small but it is very tasteful. It is worth recommending. There are more regular water jets, etc. You can bargain a little bit. The only thing that needs improvement is the sanitary conditions. The toilet tastes great. The room is very ventilated. The door is open for a few hours. The facilities are old.

The environment is fantastic and the room is quite good. It contains two meals, so this price is not expensive. However, since I didn't know if the room was good when I booked it, I didn't dare to order more, only booked for one day. I found it very good after I checked in. I hope that when I continue to live, the other party tells me that I am full, sorry. However, this is a great place to spend a holiday and enjoy the sun and the beach. I have stayed at several hotels in Mombasa and this is one of the best.
