The Spice House Mirissa

Absolutely beautiful colonial-style house with antique furniture and real character! Everything was clean and carefully presented. We were greeted with refreshing drinks and shown to a stunning room with TWO balconies and its own little attic. We really enjoyed the delicious and varied breakfasts, which much better coffee than we drank elsewhere. The pool was also a huge benefit after a hot day exploring Mirissa. The Spice House is very near the beaches and plenty of nice restaurants and cafes. Its staff were friendly and helpful - and we even had a nice chat with the owners one evening. Definitely recommend!

My husband and I spent a week at The Spice House and we would highly recommend it to anyone planning a visit to Mirissa. The house and gardens are beautiful. The staff were all so welcoming and helpful. We so enjoyed the pool and watching the wildlife as we swam and also from our balcony. Amazing accommodation. Thank you so much Phil and Wathsala. We really didn’t want to leave.

We stayed in a range of places during our 3 week trip to Sri Lanka - the Spice House was without a doubt the best stay. Beautiful rooms set in a wonderful garden. Amazing breakfast. Above all kind and welcoming hosts. Thank you!

We stayed in the Spice House and I can’t recommend this hotel enough. It’s in such a beautiful location, set in the original jungle with monkeys, chipmunks and beautiful birds all around. The rooms are very comfortable with amazing views into their gardens and the jungle. The infinity pool was amazing and the room further down the property was very quiet and perfect for couples seeking privacy and their own space. We can’t thank Phil and Wathsala enough for looking after us so well and extending our stay when Emirates cancelled our flight home, they are the perfect hosts. Turtle beach is just a 3 minute walk away and lovely restaurants just along the main street. Would highly recommend staying there, you will not be disappointed. Nice property divided into the old colonial style house and a villa with separate pool located about 3-4 mins walk away via the road. We were in the Villa, which has spacious rooms, a nice pool and garden and is pretty quiet given the mayhem of the main road 3 mins away! Staff were attentive and the breakfast was delicious. The villa did feel a bit divorced from the rest of the property, a little bit lacking in soul..

If you're in Mirissa this is a tough place to beat. Phil, the owner, is very helpful and informative. The chaps who serve breakfast are also great at arranging transport and laundry. We had 3 rooms for our party, all very good. The infinity pool area is a little oasis of calm. Highly recommended.

After a disastrous scam booking elsewhere, I arrived at The Spice House by chance — and it turned out to be the kindest place I stayed during my entire trip. Phil and his wife were incredibly warm and generous, and their care set the tone for the whole place. The beautiful colonial-style house has real soul, with a stunning pool and a calm, welcoming atmosphere. My room was huge and spotless, and the breakfasts were even bigger. The staff were both professional and genuinely caring — nothing was too much trouble. I couldn’t recommend The Spice House highly enough.

We stayed two nights, two couples. Fantastic stay, lovely hosts, very chatty and helpful. Rooms were beautiful very comfortable. We booked direct and got the best price I would recommend this. Hotel is opposite the beach and short walk to the main area. Breakfast was outstanding. Highly recommend staying here and wish we had longer. Next time hopefully.

We stayed in this charming hotel in Mirissa. The lovely hotel rooms, magnificent swimming pool and beautiful gardens made the place very relaxing and peaceful. Location wise the Spice hotel is across the street from the beach. We enjoyed relaxing on our balcony or from the pool gazing at the amazing fauna (monkeys, squirrels, birds, etc and flora.
