Very good location. Friendly staff. Historic building.

I like this hostel, cheap, perfect choice for my travel, good location and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I spent more than month in hostel Amigo, I had 10-beds room, too much, but everything was clean and the silence time at night was respected.

Before I even arrived they cancelled my first reservation due to a problem with my card and when I rebooked they charged be double. When we arrived they almost couldn’t find our reservation at all and when my friend joined us two days later they told her there was no rooms even tho she also had a reservation. They simply couldn’t find it. Finally they put her into a room. Me and my other friend who were travelling together were put into a “mixed dorm” that was all men except for us who kept the door open all night long and would come and go all night turning the lights on and off while I slept. When I complained they changed our room and put us in the same room as my third friend which was fine. Also our first room had no windows. On our last night at the hostel there were two beds left in our dorm and the front desk man came In while we were all in bed with the lights out. He turned the lights on and tried to find beds for the three new people but they didn’t exist. They are poorly organized and it’s not a very social hostel…good showers tho…

This place is now a transit centre for migrants primarily from Cuba, Venezuela and China intending on crossing the U.S border illegally. It's bar and vending machines are abandoned and most light fittings are empty of bulbs. It is dark and filled with families packed into cramp rooms. Literally a boarding house now. The reviews do not reflect this "new place". Staff were fine as was cleanliness, but this place is not safe. I met a man in my room who has his wallet stolen...not surprising as 90% of guests are illegal migrants...
