This hotel was a huge let down, its old and its not looked after for years (thats how it feels). We were going to celebrate our anniversery and thought it looked great on the pictures and 4 stars is always 4 stars. Our first room had a carpet full of stains, big stains and they looked old. Bathrum looked fairly renovated, but there was a smell of sewer in there. The wallpaper was lose on several places and it looked like it was damaged by water. Our second room had similar issues, hard floor so no stains but sewer smell in the bathroom, walls dirty, a big hole was repaired with filler but not painted, a big wooden board covering one of the doors to balcony, it looked like a temporary and crappy fix. It seem to us that the maintainance left a few years ago, or they have a shoe string budget, or they are not allowed to fix things. When reception, with not a second of doubt hands us a towel to cover the shower drains and a bottle of perfume then you know this is something they do all the time. INstead of fixing the issue, give the customers perfume! It can be seen everywhere, the tennis cours was overgrown, the lift made sounds and doors squeeked, the hallways looked old and dirty and there was a general feel of neglect. Service was nice, and breakfast was good, but the rest, dont go there..

We had a fantastic dinner in the hotel, which was only out done by the exceptional service we received. I wamted to call out Abner who served our table and was quite exceptional. When you approach through the forest and waterways this monster in a large pond intrigues. Located next to the old Waterloopkundig or hydrological research centre this building from the sixties with its concrete look, has been fully remodelled and modernized. Nice couches and surroundings created in the main entrance and the hallways. Plenty of parking space and possibility to stall your bikes and bicycles. One strange thing is that they demand immediate payment of the room (even when we had given a credit card guarantee) though you can charge bar and restaurant on the room. All rooms have a balcony overlooking the pond and they have a lot of space. They are modern and supplied with a safe and coffeemaker. Good beds and perfect shower. The lights for reading at the seats and for shaving at the wash basin are faint and don't really help. For the rest, no remarks to the rooms though the decoration on the walls is a little bit of everything. The restaurant offered a special asparagus menu due to the season. We assume they do more of these specialties. The normal dishes have a decent variety and there is the possibility of the chef's choice in meat, fish or vegetarian (recommendable). With the option of strolling alongside the old research objects in the moors and woodlands and the good cycling options, this new (opened at 31 March 2023) hotel is an excellent extra for the Fletcher brand.

After a bike trip from Lelystad to Steenwijk I had a room in this hotel. Wonderful room very good bed, beautiful sanitary and a spacious breakfast enough. The next day after a bike trip in the surroundings, I could still dress in this hotel. Good and good staff.

Generally speaking I enjoyed my stay at the hotel. Location is good close to rhe station and the park and the city center. Breakfast was excellent in a nice spacious dining rooms + veranda. Staff was correct and helpful at most times. Room was OK in size. Most my comments relate to the room: 1. No air conditioning, the small cooler they provide is not effective enough. 2. No drawers and shelves to put the cloths only hanging...not practical not satisfying when staying for a week duration. 3. No basic vanity kit nor conditioner in the bathroom...really not suited for a 4 stars hotel. I had to buy this stuff. Can't understand this kind of stupid negligence (I did ask in reception for conditioner and they confirmed they don't provide it....). 4. Poor TV offer of channels....not so critical but still .... 5. Room service shuts down very early in the evening so what's the point of it?
