Hotels with Swimming Pools in Melbourne

My husband and have stayed at The Stamford Plaza times many times over the years and have always loved it, but this was the first time bringing the kids, as we wanted to treat them to a special night out in the school holidays. PROS - The pool and spa were the highlight of our trip. After reading some previous reviews about the water being too cold we were a little concerned, but they were both absolutely wonderful. The pool area was clean and the pool was lovely and warm. The spa was perfect and HOT - just the way we love it. My children LOVED the glass elevator, this was a real thrill for them and they are already asking when we can go back to go in it again. We did meet some lovely staff during our stay, and check in and check out was fast and easy. The room was nice and clean. There is absolutely no view of the city lights (we were looking out onto a wall) but this is just due to the location and can't be helped. The central location is fantastic. CONS - No valet - I'm sure this was a service that used to be offered in the past? Our bags took nearly 2 hours to be delivered to our room, and this was time wasted that we were planning on heading out to explore the city. They only arrived after several follow up calls asking how much longer they would be. We only had 2 towels (and no robes) in our bathroom, even though our booking was for a family of 4. When our bags arrived, we asked the gentleman to please provide 2 more towels for the kids but they never came. We ended up needing to take 2 extra towels from the pool area back to our room. Our 'Indulgence Package' included a bottle of wine which we were told would be brought up to the room. This also never came and I needed to ask for it upon checking out. The real let down though was the buffer breakfast, which was included in our package. We have stayed at many 4 and 5 star hotels and this was possibly the worst breakfast we have come across - I wouldn't even rate it a 2. The coffee machine was broken, and there was no service asking if we would like a fresh tea or coffee. My son had the pancakes (pre-made sitting out with the bread) and he said they tasted stale and crumbled in his mouth. The hot food (eggs, bacon, tomato, hash brown) were all stone COLD - not even luke warm. I considered asking if they could pop my plate into the microwave to heat them up but lost my appetite wondering how long it had been just sitting out there. And the fresh fruit was dry and looked like it had been sitting out a long time. I wish we hadn't taken take package with breakfast included, as we could have had a hot breakfast for much less $$ from the McDonalds just around the corner. Our package also included late check out to 12 noon however our keys did not allow us entry back in after 11am. OVERALL - We would stay at the Stamford again however I think they need to advertise it for what it truly is - a 4 star hotel. I must say the location is 10/10 as its just a block away from southern cross station. We took the airport skybus and took a short walk w our 2 toddlers to hotel to and fro with our 4 check in baggages with ease. Coles” also across the street with tons of food options nearby. Its also within free tram zone so another great plus for us! Our rooms came with Continental breakfast. Selection during breakfast wasn’t great, but kids and us weren’t fussy. Our room smell a little stale when we check in initially but most times we were out and about and after a while, not as noticeable. Generally a fuss free hotel with great value. Certainly hope to be back soon!

It’s an old hotel and needs upgrading. Pool area is a disaster, dull and ugly. Very outdated decor. Hallway dark and gloomy. The bedroom was worn out. Bed head material was coming apart. Not a 5 star hotel and definitely not value for money. There are much newer and cheaper hotels in Melbourne with better amenities. The one thing that was fabulous was the breakfast. Amazing variety, wonderful staff and lovely ambience. The location of the hotel is also great and convenient as it is close to amazing restaurants and bars. The pillows were also comfortable.

The hotel is conveniently located right in the heart of Melbourne near the Spanish Quarter, Bourke Street Mall, and other shopping precincts. The staff are friendly and efficient at check-in. The rooms are good in size with modern amenities and comfortable beds. There is a kettle and small fridge. The bathroom has a bath with a shower, so if you have mobility issues, it's not for you. There is no rail to hold onto when getting in or out, which makes it dangerous, especially as it gets slippery. There is a pool and gyn which were modern and accessible. The room we had faced into the mezzanine of the hotel so you dont get any light from outside, which was strange. The room was very quiet and had a good air conditioner. Overall, we would stay here again, although the lack of being able to see outside wasn't ideal, and if you stayed for more than one night, it could be an issue.

Great location and price! Close to everything, walking distance to shopping mall, food places and public transport. Tram is just outside the building, convenient to travel places. The room was spacious for 2 pax and clean. Enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay there again! 😀

Stayed here as a Diamond Ambassador in an iconic suite - Check in experience was great, warm welcome, benefits acknowledged and welcome drink provided. Amazing room, ridiculous amount of space, comfortable bed, great little office/working area. Unfortunately, the general level of service/care factor is lacking especially when staying in a room costing over 1k a night! One of my complimentary water bottles was open/used and about half empty, yuck. Later that day I wanted to use my $25 credit on the minibar 200ml bottle of gin (which is listed as inclusive of 4 mixers). Gin was missing from the mini bar I couldn't find it. Called down to reception to ask if it was by request, they assured me it should be there and would send someone up. Waited 2 hours and no one came which frustrated me as I was waiting so called down again and was assured someone was on the way. Someone did arrive with a huge bag full of everything except the gin. When questioned didn't seem to know what I was talking about, I had to point to it on the minibar menu and was met with a very confused expression, he left. Then about 30 minutes later a different person arrives with the gin bottle, success. However upon checkout there were a bunch of mini bar items charged which I hadn't consumed, and in fact were not even missing. I hate having to have that conversation but after only 3 words they were ”happy to remove them” which makes me think this isn't an uncommon occurrence. I later noticed that the mixers were charged as well where as they should have been included with the gin purchase cost, but I couldn't be bothered wasting my time to try and sort it out. Club lounge service was attentive but did fill up and get quite busy in the evenings however my drink was always topped up and the staff there were friendly and engaging. Temperature control seems non-existent in the room and I'm convinced it makes no difference what you set it to. I had my do not disturb on until mid morning, so as I was leaving for the day dropped by reception and said I may have missed housekeeping and could they have someone make up the room. Arrived back a few hours later and it hadn't been done. All up a real mixed bag here, but can't help feel my simple requests were a bother and inconvenience.

This is a nice modern hotel. It can be difficult for a taxi driver to find but the is a sign on Lonsdale St. Get out of the taxi/Uber and walk up Timothy lane and go to the 6 floor for reception. Reception were very good and I had a small but fully equiped standard room on the 19th floor with a good view. The room have a variety of pillows a comfortable bed and I had a good nights sleep. The room was very quiet. Breakfast is on the 7th floor and was standard with a cook to cook omelet’s or your style of eggs. The staff were very pleasant providing you with a nice coffee or tea. Across the road is many restaurants in Hardware lane. The hotel’s restaurant was also good and I had a nice meal. Checkout was easy. I did not use the car park so no details. The hotel is close to Transport trams, buses and Melbourne central station for the Metro. A nice hotel in the mid price range

Great location- very central. Staff were helpful and friendly. We had a large car that wouldn’t fit in the carpark, but they have clear instructions on which other carpark to use so it was no hassle. Room was spacious, well appointed and clean (2 bedroom apartment). Also quiet. Will definitely book here again.

Given the rate we paid for our accommodation I was dubious as to what we were going to find. And my low expectations couldn't have been further off. The Vibe Hotel is excellent! Location is fabulous with trams out front, off site parking within stones throw (and with a voucher making it cheap as chips for city parking) heated indoor pool to name a few. The rooms aren't huge but are exceptionally comfortable with all the amenities that you need. Breakfast was excellent and given it was included in the rate, was an extra wow factor as I was expecting something simple (continental) but nope! All the staff we encountered were lovely, helpful and just added to a great stay overall! Only 4 star rating I would give was with sleep quality - but that was my choice of room location. There was some street noise (city views were worth any noise issue though) but it certainly didn't keep us awake. It may be a bother to some though.

We stayed 4 nights here just before Anzac Day. The was clean, comfortable and with a reasonable price. We had a king sized bed which was a little hard for my wife but fine for me with pillows a little on the hard side but still ok. Bathroom facilities and overall room size were a little small (we had our grandson with us). Bathroom gear like toothpaste, shivers etc were standard nothing special. The coffee pod machine was also ok. Room doors were fairly hard to push open but locking systems etc worked just fine. Surprisingly as we were within the Melbourne CBD, the room was quiet. We didn’t hear that much external noise. Staff were very good and eager to help both at the front counter and in the breakfast area. Breakfast $40 per head was reasonable but did not have the range we are used to getting at other hotels we’ve stayed at. Still it was acceptable. Interestingly our grandson (5yrs) was free for both the room and breakfast. We used the indoor swimming every night and you really couldn’t fault it as the facilities and water seemed clean and there were lots of towels available. Would definitely stay here again.
