Victoria Regia Hotel

Back in 1999, we came to Iquitos to a different hotel. We saw evidence of trafficking minors and walked out. We inquired from a trustworthy and knowledgeable local for a hotel with run by people with a conscience and higher standards. She said, ”There's only one place that I know that is owned by a family: Victoria Regia. We found that the employees worked there happily for 20-30 years. The owners treated very poor people with honor. The hotel is an absolute oasis of peace, beauty, and cleanliness. The food is wonderful. Now we've been coming for 20 years and we've referred dozens and dozens of guests.

The hotel was very comfortable and the hotel was very comfortable and very comfortable. Breakfast : The price includes American breakfast, but we only got the option of hot drink, eggs, juice and bread. But American breakfast includes fruit, jam and cheese. But here I start my bad experience; the staff who serve the restaurant quite apathic. We took breakfast on 4 nov plan of 8:30 am where we made the order yet all came late; the shopper seemed to be the most lost, brings me the juice after 15 minutes the coffee and the eggs arrived at 9:00: The hotel is very comfortable and comfortable. The staff were very helpful and the staff were very helpful and the staff were very helpful. Ask for a late check out; the repactionist assigns me the hab 103 and then we all put our bags in this room. But he called me at half an hour to say no; that now it was room 303 and I offered to move my things (I had already created trouble to us). Check out : We were 9 people imagine the amount of baggage we have and a 2-year-old baby and two older adults. We went and the receptionist didn't look at us, no pioneer, no goodbye. she was a dresser in the 11 years I worked at a 5* hotel I never had left my guest without saying goodbye and asked him how I went. ** NOT GO TO HERE** This place is overvalued

The breakfast is very average, but the waiter in the restaurant is very enthusiastic. If you have any situation, you will come over and ask for help. You will be asked separately if you want eggs. The room is okay, but the decoration is relatively old. The windows are on the patio. Generally speaking, it is okay. The supplies are not complete, but the good thing is that they can provide free shuttle planes.

In order to get a full understanding of the hotel experience, you may want to read all three sections: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. The Good: * Amazing customer service (5 stars for this) : The hotel staff wins your heart with the par excellence customer service they offer. Michael and his team at the front desk went out of their way to make our stay a memorable experience. First, the beds were not the best ones for my personal needs. I cannot sleep on foam mattresses. I somehow managed the first night of stay and Michael arranged for a rollaway bed to be put on the floor for the next two days. Our flight was late in the night on the checkout day and we requested a late checkout. The front desk looked up and since their guests were arriving later in the evening, they let us check out late. This helped us a lot with our onward journey. * Location: 3 of the rooms (#2,3 &4) have a nice view of the amazonia river (a tributary of the amazon). Also, the general location of the hotel is right in the heart of the city, just a couple of blocks from the Plaza de Armas and the most happening city square. The tuktuks parked right outside the hotel are a mode of transportation literally from the door step. * The Rooms: A mansion turned hotel with 20 feet high ceilings and so much of space to move around makes you feel at home. All amenities in the room along with potable water jug, microwave, a hot plate, silverware etc. make it such a comfortable stay. A nice pool in the courtyard adds to the get up of the place. Not to mention the beautiful library that one must visit. * Food: Very nice breakfast served with fresh juice and the standard breakfast items. This is not a buffet and is served individually in again a huge breakfast/dining room. The servers are so sweet and take every care to make you feel at home. The Bad: * The hotel is surrounded by tons of work happening and most of the area is being worked on making the place pretty much inaccessible from the first lane. * The location is close to the city center but the locality is not very clean and there are almost like slum dwellings around the place. * The bathroom toilets have a stench that needs to be addressed by the hotel. It's an amazing place but surely would do with some maintenance. * The room has a huge window for the amazon river view but it is sealed by a glass pane. One realizes that it not only prevents noise from the boardwalk area but also prevents mosquitos from entering the room. But again, it could have been designed to be openable. The Ugly: * This section has nothing to do with the hotel but the boardwalk use by the public. You can see teenage boys in the boardwalk area making joints and smoking all evening. Cops do come there to check but there is a limit to what they can control.
Double Tree by Hilton Iquitos

The hotel is far from perfect but it is the best stay in Iquitos. Customer service is questionable. I had a dispute with the front desk about room rate - considering I could purchase a room online for 30$US per night cheaper than the hotel was charging me. They did not match the rate so I booked online. I was impressed by the way one of the front desk staff dealt with my upset and so I emailed the manager of the hotel to congratulate this member of staff. But the manager and no other hotel staff got back to me about my email. For a Double Tree Hilton (and I have stayed in these hotels around the world), that shows a lack of professional and integrity for the customer. I expect better from this group. But it is the best hotel in Iquitos so I put up with it for the time I am here. If there was a hotel that was at the same standard in Iquitos, I wouldn’t have stayed here as many nights as I did.
