I booked a one-bedroom apartment for three guests. When I checked in at around 7:00 pm, the reception staff told me I would have to wait until 10:30 pm for someone to set up the sofa bed. If I didn’t want to wait, they offered to give me the bed linen and asked me to set up the sofa bed myself. To make matters worse, by 10:30 pm, no one had come, and I had to go back to the reception desk to ask when the sofa bed would finally be prepared.
I’ve travelled to many places and stayed in numerous hotels, but this is the first time I’ve ever been asked to make up my own sofa bed. I was genuinely surprised that such a well-known hotel chain could not arrange for housekeeping to prepare the room before guests arrived.
To make matters worse, when I entered the apartment, the kitchen bin still contained rubbish left by the previous guest, which gave a very poor first impression and raised concerns about the cleanliness of the room.
On the positive side, the hotel’s location is excellent. It’s within walking distance of the Northern Quarter and Manchester city centre, with plenty of cafés, pubs, and restaurants nearby. There’s also an Aldi supermarket right next to the hotel, making it convenient to buy groceries and prepare meals in the apartment. The apartment is well equipped with a full kitchen, which is a great feature for longer stays.
Overall, the apartment itself is modern, spacious, and well equipped, but the service was extremely disappointing and fell well below the standard I would expect from a hotel of this brand. Unfortunately, the poor service overshadowed what could otherwise have been an enjoyable stay.
