Maleme Mare

Bad location, bad beach, bad food, old rooms.

We absolutely loved this hotel. Everywhere was so clean. We spent most of our time in the quieter pool. We had no problems getting sunbeds. Stavros and Sascha (the barman) were brilliant as was the lady on reception nothing was to much. We will definitely be back soon

We visited in June/July 26. The staff are lovely but I'm not sure the hotel deserves it's star rating or it's Jet 2 rating. Our room was an executive apartment. It was said to have a fully fitted kitchen and air-conditioning and looked very good and and quite upmarket in the brochure. It was very tired looking and where we expected a bit of luxury it was very basic. The kitchen had a coffee maker and sink but was definitely not fully equipped as there was no other equipment to be able to do any cooking of any description not even a knife or fork etc. The air conditioning was only in the kitchen/living area and didn't cool the bedroom at all. The cleaning wasn't really cleaning - it was bed making and towel refresh. The Jet 2 brochure describes various health and fitness options including air-conditioned gym and various classes including Yoga and aqua aerobics but these simply didn't exist. The brochure also states the bar is open fora MINIMUM of 12 hours a day but it's actually open for a Maximum of 12 hours and closes completely at 10.30pm. As there are no real bars in Maleme your only option is to drink on your balcony or go to bed. The food was adequate but quite repetitive. If you didn't get foor your meal as the restaurant opened you were very limited to what you could have as a lot of things didn't appear to be replenished. The pool areas are very nice with lots of comfortable sunbeds. The hotel also has some not so comfortable sunbeds on the beach for €5 for 2 beds and a umbrella. As I said initially all the staff are friendly amd helpful which is why I'm giving the review 4 stars instead of 3. I know the hotel attracts a lot of repeat visitors and I think the staff are the main reason for this. Unfortunately not a hotel we would return to.

We once again enjoyed 2 lovely weeks at Maleme Mare. The hotel is located in quiet surroundings and the sea as a neighbour. The staff are fantastic, the food good and the newly renovated rooms have become so beautiful. The beds are like a dream. We miss everything about it and look forward to the trip there next year

If you want calm, friendly, happy, clean, organised, a more relaxed holiday and on the beach front? then this holiday is for you.! I am not surprised that this hotel gets the five star reviews it deserves. Such a beautiful hotel and area. The staff were all fantastic. Thank you once again for helping to make our daughter’s 16th birthday a special and memorable one. We enjoyed the food and drinks. There was Always sunbeds by the two pools. There is some entertainment. But we was not looking for a busy hotel so we was happy with the three nights of entertainment. We did 10 nights here and made lovely friends along the way. If you need more entertainment or food and drinks then you can catch a bus on the front and it will take you where you need. Also there are Plenty shops, restaurants and supermarkets near by the hotel. Took some Beautiful walks. 10/10 highly recommend.

This hotel is a stay you can’t afford to miss out on . It’s an absolute gem on the beautiful island of Crete. The family run hotel is spotless , the food is gorgeous and the ambience fab . This is far from a party hotel with the bar closing at 10.30pm and spirits not served until after 6pm everyday but that honestly makes absolutely no difference to the experience this hotel and all its staff provide . From the cleaners the bar staff reception team checks maintenance men nothing is too much trouble they all work hard to make sure you have the best holiday ever . Located directly on the beach with essential amenities within a 5 minute walk this resort provides a slow and chilled experience guaranteed for all . Larger resorts are within a 2 mile radius including long sandy beaches and a bus service runs every 30mins and drops right outside the hotel . I honestly can’t praise this hotel enough so much so I’m looking to return in September 26. Stavros and team you’re on to a winner keep up the good work and I’ll hopefully see you all again soon 🙌

We arrived late Monday night to a supper freshly prepared for us which was very needed. From the minute we got there until the day we left we were made to feel so welcome and looked after. It has a lovely family feel and many people we met had been before. There weren’t many English which was refreshing. There are two large pools to choose from with huge glass windows looking out to sea. It’s literally right on the beach if you prefer that. The food was so good and each day was very varied. The staff and manager stavros are all lovely and could not do enough to help. The rooms are well equipped with lots of storage and very well presented. The gardens are extremely well kept and overall the whole hotel is spotless and well maintained. There wasn’t entertainment every night which my daughter and I quite liked. There’s a whole shelf of games and books to borrow plus some kids toys. We found it easy to jump on the bus and go into Chania to the old town finding a great restaurant that served the best linguine I’ve had in years. It’s a beautiful country Crete and this hotel is a gem for sure. I’d go back

The rooms are big and clean. The beds are good to sleep on. The balconies are spacious. The staff is great. Lovely atmosphere

Wonderful location, 2 minutes to the beach. Excellent services and competent staffs. Food was delicious as well, and cats will stare at you when you eat. Highly recommend!
