Went to reethi beach resort 2 weeks ago it was our first Maldives trip and certainly wont be our last. Crystal blue sea water clean beaches, the whole island was a perfect tropical experience. The staff are lovely and polite, we had a sunset villa which was cleaned twice a day, beds made, swept through tea and coffee topped up with fresh bottled water. We enjoyed all the food in the buffet restaurant that we never even tried the other restaurants, who'd have thought of eating soup in 30 degree heat, it was so tasty! Almost living with nature was a joy. Bugs, ants and lizzards going about their daily business, fruit bats circling overhead, a moor hen would pop by in the evening and have a bathe in our foot bath outside. If your going for a walk around the island in the evenings take a torch, all the hermet crabs come out to feed and you wont see them underfoot! Watching the islands herons in the evenings catch fish being chased out the water by nursing sharks too was fascinating. I did read lot of reviews before coming here as the Maldives are not cheap holidays, I must say a lot of negatively of this island is unfair, if you want to have royalty treatment then spend 20k on your holiday but for what we paid (which was still not cheap) it was fabulous value for money and already looking to go back to Reethi beach next year!
