We recently visited Slater's Country Inn on a chilly winter’s day, and it was the perfect spot to warm up and unwind. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a roaring fire, which immediately set a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The friendly staff made us feel like old friends, offering a warm welcome and excellent service throughout our time there. Slater’s is a family-owned, and it truly shines with its homemade, hearty food. We had the pleasure of enjoying their amazing quiche, and steak and kidney pie was equally impressive— both rich, savory, and was simply delicious. Every bite was a reminder of the care and attention that goes into their cooking. The pub had a lovely, relaxed vibe with friendly locals who added to the welcoming atmosphere. It felt like a place where everyone knows each other, which only made our visit feel more special. We’re already planning our return! The rooms available at Slater's Country Inn look like the ideal retreat, and we’re excited to take advantage of them next time. If you’re in the Staffordshire area, we can’t recommend this charming inn enough for its warm welcome, fantastic food, and overall inviting atmosphere.

No staff at check inn had to go to bar to check inn to stop the night. No smiles didn't feel welcome. Went back to bar for a drink later, again felt unwelcome until they realised we were there for a wedding reception. Room not worth £113 a night. Paint falling off ceiling in bathroom. Mould around bath in tile edges. No paint on bottom of door in bathroom where they have rubbed mop against it cleaning floor. Trouser press and ironing board broken off wall and just lent in corner. 2 3/4 used toilet roles, so I ran out of toilet paper. Breakfast asked for poached eggs and was told I'd ask chef he might not do them as we're busy?? He did in the end. Though. Overall efficient stay but not warm and welcoming. It's a Shame because all the little issues can so easily be fixed to make it a wow place. Overall not worth the money

A pleasant mid range hotel in a rural setting, one would normally need to eat in the hotel which has a good range of reasonably priced food. The rooms are cosy if there are two of you, travelling solo on business they were fine. The hotel advertises itself as a wedding venue so may be noisier on occasions. Worth checking.

Fantastic experience staff were marvellous. So friendly , we attended a manic street preachers concert at trentham gardens. August 17th, great location for this ,to drive in . Great breakfast and not too early! Room comfortable bathroom could have done with a little tlc but that didn't bother us at all. Iron in the room hairdryer & tea coffee making . Fab few days aways.

Very disappointed in the service Had to keep asking staff to remove plates from table, also for drinks, shouldn’t need to keep asking for service. Staff too busy chatting at the bar, forgetting about customers. Want exactly busy. I ordered a Fillet steak, asked for medium, pink no blood When it arrived it was medium/ well done. I told the staff who swiftly removed it. A minute or two later it was bought back and I was told this was what I ordered. He explained the chef is unable to cook a steak Pink no blood !! It was not impossible I explained that I’ve had many steaks that are pink and juicy in my life He said sorry the Chef said can’t do it. I sat and watched my family eat Everyone else in the party where happy with their food

Popped in for a snack while on a cycle ride. We both had soup at £6.95 each and my friend added a portion of chips at £4. He received around 20 chips. Thats 20p a chip! The chips were ok. The soup tasted like it was fresh out of a tin. I used to go here a long time ago. I am sure it was better then.

Nipped in for lunch on our way home. Plenty of choice and delicious food. It was really busy. We ate downstairs but there is an upstairs if you prefer. Lovely staff. I had cheese and onion quiche with salad and fries. The quiche was homemade. My husband had a fish burger . Our friends had a burger and fries and cheese and chorizo quiche.

Wedding day I stayed overnight, as well as a whole day as part of a wedding ceremony. The whole event was fantastic, everywhere was clean, the bar staff, waiters and waitresses kept everything as clean throughout a busy and hectic day. The location is off the beaten track and is good place to get away from the stress of everyday living
