Heard that there was great food here. So called in today. The food was burnt and unpalatable. All over cooked and greasy. My husband rarely complains, but he said ir was worst ever. Waitress was very nice, seats and floor were dirty. Chef really needs to be replaced

I have been staying here every few weeks and I have to say that the staff are the most nicest people I have ever met, nothing is too big or small for them. They are the best! The rooms are so spacious, very bright and between the bed and the shower, it is like heaven. I highly recommend staying here.

I dine in the Castle hotel about 8 times a year after i attend some business in Cork. on the whole its a nice place... However I have had reason to visit three times since Christmas and have been disappointed each time. I have wrestled with my decision to post this and hope management do not take too much offence. The Castle has not changed in relation to its high standards of cleanliness or food. i love it. Where it falls flat on its face is the new staff. on arrival there last Monday i was greeted by a gentleman whom i can only assume was a manager who showed myself and friends to a table. it was so apparent he did not want to be there as he mumbled under his breath to follow him never looking at any of us once. he left us sitting quiet a while before he brought menus and then proceeded to walk away not asking if we were okay for drinks. the party beside us called and asked him if their orange juice was Gluten free as one member had allergies. he s******ed and said he would go check and came back with a carton of orange that could be purchased in the local supermarket for pennies and said he read the back and this was fine and also informed them he had ASKED GOOGLE. one of my party was going to have on OJ but decided after seeing this she was not willing to pay a high price for an OJ which was from a cheap carton. in my opinion not a 4 star hotel thing to do. Onto our meal.. as I stated food never fails never had a bad meal. the guy who took our order was floating around and a really nice young gentleman served the food..When we tried to order another drink we called the guy who i will call Manager ... he looked straight through us and i felt i was waving a taxi down on a busy saturday night.... no response so we went thirsty. all during our meal there was a young girl standing watching us eat and i can only assume she was a new member of staff. the girl looked terrified and every time one of us put a fork down she nearly pranced on us for the plate even if we were not finished eating. Not blaming her at all she clearly had not been trained in and this said manager gave her zero directions and i really felt sorry for her. please look at the staffing issue. as stated i do call in a few times a year i maybe not a regular but i have noticed the standard of service slipping. i am fully aware of staff shortages all over the sector BUT on my visit it seemed to be a manger who couldnt care less a young girl with no training and another waitress who was more concerned with how she looked as she stood in front of the mirror admiring herself. before this experience i would have sang the praise of the staff in the Castle. i have has some good and interesting conversations with staff whom have always been so friendly and helpful. Current staff look and act like they are only a few steps away form doomsday.
