Casas do Baleeiro - Whaler's Houses ★★★

📍 Rua de São Sebastião 20, Canical

"A fantastic little place in Caneçal, highly recommend! Its well situated, easy to access, and has great facilities, perfect for a couple or a small family looking to access local hikes or relax in the small fishing town."

Baía Madeira Hotel
9.0 (138 reviews)

Baía Madeira Hotel ★★★★

📍 Caminho de São Roque, Machico

"The hotel is old, but very nice. The windows offer a stunning view of the bay. The cleanliness of the room is at a high level. The hotel territory with well-maintained pedestrian paths on the coast. Polite staff. Convenient location of the hotel relative to the airport, you can even walk quietly in 30-40 minutes. Cons: Disappointed by the breakfast, meager and tasteless. And they could at least put water in the room. Little things, but after a flight this is important, especially if you arrive late at night."

Enotel Santo da Serra

Enotel Santo da Serra ★★★★

📍 Sitio Dos Casais Proximos, Santo António da Serra, Machico

"The hotel was very good and close to the airport. Unfortunately, there are few dining options in town, and dinner is very expensive at €30 per person per day."

Hyatt Ziva Madeira

Hyatt Ziva Madeira ★★★★★

📍 Marina da Quinta Grande, Canical

"Great hotel! We really enjoyed our holiday at the hotel. It's a whole city! There's a promenade and several swimming pools. The food is top notch! You can have a buffet, you can go to restaurants, and there's even a coffee shop with delicious coffee! We spent our evenings at the bar, drinking delicious cocktails and dancing. There's a beautiful trail nearby - Cape Sao Lourenco. There's a shuttle to Funchal, which is very convenient. We'll definitely come back again!"

Jaca Hostel Porto da Cruz ★★

📍 Casas Próximas, R. Dr. João Abel de Freitas Nº20, Porto da Cruz

"I had an amazing time at Jacca Hostel in Porto da Cruz! From the moment I arrived, I felt completely at home thanks to the warm and welcoming atmosphere. Kevin and Victoria are doing an incredible job creating such a great vibe and organizing fun activities that make it easy to meet people and enjoy the island together. The hostel has a really special energy. Relaxed, social, and genuine. It honestly felt more like a little community than just a place to stay. I’m so grateful for the experience and the memories I made here. I would absolutely recommend Jacca Hostel to anyone visiting Madeira, and I already hope to come back someday! 🦀"

Baía Madeira Hotel ★★★★
"The hotel is good, on the beach, public transport stop nearby, there is hiking nearby. You can book surfing, diving, excursions at the hotel, breakfasts are also not bad. But the service! From such a hotel you expect that they will be more friendly with you, take you to the room for the first time, tell you what and where to find, etc. None of this happened. Upon check-in to the room there was a compliment - water, cookies and wine. But the water is not replenished later. In the room, towels are changed every day, robes, etc."

Enotel Santo da Serra ★★★★
"Fantastic, welcoming space that provided a spectacular weekend. From the moment we arrived, the reception was very attentive and ready to help, as well as in the dining room where we were very well received, with fantastic service accompanied by excellent food. The rooms were very clean, with a little treat upon arrival that could have provided a fantastic night. In the morning we found a wonderful buffet accompanied by a very helpful employee ready to help. We ended up enjoying a space next to the pool that was very clean and provided fantastic moments. It will definitely be a place to return and recommend."

Jaca Hostel Porto da Cruz ★★
"Are you planning to visit Porto da Cruz? Are you interested in meeting new people and having great hosts who are warm, welcoming, and genuinely interesting? Then you should definitely spend your time at Jaca Hostel. Whether you’re a solo traveler or visiting in a group, this hostel is perfect for everyone. For 12 nights, I was lucky enough to call this place my home – and it truly felt like one. I met so many lovely, interesting people, enjoyed great food during the pizza and burger nights, caught some good waves at the nearby beach, and will definitely come back again. I went there as a solo traveler (my first time!) and wasn’t alone for more than an hour the whole time. The hostel is designed for social interaction, and the hosts, Rosa and Kevin, are both incredibly friendly and make you feel welcome from the very first second. I stayed in the beautiful attic with six other people, but you still have your privacy thanks to the curtains. At first, I wasn’t quite sure about that setup, but it turned out to be no problem at all. Nearly everyone was respectful in the early mornings and tried to stay quiet. You have your own locker and even the option to do laundry. The hostel is cleaned every day, so it’s always very tidy. Although there are “only” two bathrooms, it’s really not an issue – I never had to wait. And for showering, there’s also an outdoor shower available. So, I can’t say anything more – just go there, and you won’t regret it! A big thank you to Kevin, Rosa, Tomé, and Leo!"
