What should have been a great weekend turned out to be a deception. Valet parking was poorly arranged, we were allowed to park the car behind the barrier ourselves and then lug our suitcases through the snow to the entrance. A few weeks prior to our visit, we had requested rooms with a connecting door and this was agreed. Ultimately these rooms were not available and we had to install our young children in a separate room. Very undesirable. The rooms themselves left much to be desired in terms of cleanliness and state of maintenance. Peeling paint on window frames, moldy joints, dusty corners, cracked mirrors, dirt under the glass plate of the desk, dingy chairs and dirty stair railings were our lot. The water jet in the shower of room 203 was so weak that it was not even possible to shower properly. The next morning we had breakfast. I deliberately omit the word 'enjoyed'. It was extremely busy in the restaurant and the narrow passage between tables and buffet was full of guests and staff. In fact, it was virtually impossible to have a quiet and delicious breakfast. The offer was also mediocre. The hotel claims to meet the 5-star classification, but I had to conclude that with this service (or lack thereof) it does not even come close. And that's a shame. I have raised the issues with the hotel staff and also informed management but they have refused to respond.
