Xieng Thong Retreat Hotel (Luang Prabang Old Town - Central Sisavangvong Road Branch)

I'm the guest who was writing a negative review at the front desk in the middle of the night. Thankfully, the front desk attendant came over and saw me, and he successfully helped me resolve the issue. So I was able to sleep very well that night. After getting familiar with the surroundings, I also found the hotel's location to be excellent, making it convenient to get around. Breakfast was rice noodles one day and Western-style the next. There weren't many options, but it was sufficient. Simple. I'm especially grateful to all the front desk staff; they provided me with tremendous support and were all warm and kind. Currently, I believe the hotel urgently needs to improve its laundry service by deep cleaning the washing machines immediately. After washing, clothes come out with unknown debris, not paper scraps, but they look very dirty. I advise all guests not to do laundry at the hotel. It's worth paying a little extra to get your clothes cleaned elsewhere.

I'm extremely disappointed with your hotel. I'm currently sitting at your front desk writing this review at 12:17 AM. This is my second night staying here. A few hours ago, a very low, buzzing noise started in my room. It's not the air conditioner because I tried turning it off, and it made no difference. It's a really unpleasant sound, and I think there might be infrasound as well – I can't hear it, but my body can feel it, making me feel nauseous and like I want to throw up. As soon as I leave the room, I feel better. I deeply regret not leaving earlier when I had the thought. Yesterday, upon arriving, I found the hotel looked nothing like the pictures online; your photos are very misleading. The room is small, and the air conditioning is definitely not cold enough – below average. I saw a Thai person's review mentioning the AC wasn't cold enough, and having lived in Thailand for years, I completely understand. However, as a Chinese person, it was just barely tolerable for me. Others complained that the owner is Chinese and the staff only speak Chinese (though I think they were being discriminatory). When I read those negative reviews, I inwardly criticized their mindset, thinking, 'Look how little you paid.' While their complaints about the shortcomings were valid, I could accept them until this noise started. I have Sony noise-canceling headphones, and with them on and noise canceling activated, I couldn't hear any noise in my ears. I thought I could finally sleep. But then I started feeling even more uncomfortable, as if my body could still sense some vibration, making me want to throw up. I even considered telling my colleague that I couldn't attend next week's report, saying, 'I'm sick, I need to go back to my country to see my doctor.' It's such a terrible experience. Your staff are very kind and are trying their best to support your operations, but the facilities are really subpar. I also hope people aren't attracted by the 'washing clothes available' feature. The washing machine stinks (I wanted to complain about it, as other things like the AC and older equipment weren't a big deal), but having my clothes smell bad after washing is just too much. Of course, the cleanliness of the rooms is above average here, and again, your staff are doing a great job; they genuinely can't change these other issues. I will not be coming back. I genuinely feel like I'm going to throw up, physically.

This was a great stay! The hotel's location is convenient, the room was clean and tidy, and the bedding was comfortable, so I slept really well. The front desk service was warm and attentive. Overall, it was great value for money, and I'd choose to stay here again!

Excellent location, very close to the Mekong River. The Foreigner Street bars and the walking street are right around the corner.

The hotel is located in the palace district, where construction is restricted due to policy, so the building is a bit old and the interior decor is a bit basic. The location is a little far from the main bustling areas, but this brings absolute quietness, which is very comfortable. It's worth walking a few extra steps as it's not too far. The hotel offers free washing machines and drying racks, which is especially friendly for someone like me who's too lazy to wash clothes. I didn't have breakfast, but there's a relaxation area behind the hotel, both indoors and outdoors, directly facing the local residents' cottages, and the atmosphere is really nice.

Service: The front desk staff helps with luggage and speaks Chinese. The breakfast is delicious. Hygiene: The room is very clean. The floorboards creak, indicating it's an older building, but it's spotless. The towels have no odor, and there's plenty of hot water in the bathroom. Amenities/Environment: The cookies at the front desk are really tasty! There's also a great coffee shop right outside the hotel.

This hotel offers great value for money and is conveniently located near the Mekong River, making it perfect for tourists who enjoy city walks. I had a very comfortable stay. The two front desk staff members were exceptionally helpful, and they even provide complimentary breakfast. Highly recommend! (And no, I'm not a shill, just a happy customer!)
