The Ritz-Carlton, Los Angeles

Downtown Los Angeles Los Angeles|1km from Seven Grand
The Ritz-Carlton Los Angles is one of our most favorite hotels but on our recent trip it was a whole new level for two reasons 1) super sweet upgrade (thanks Bonvoy Ambassador team)and 2) club level access. The Room The Executive Suite is a stunning room. The hotel offers several configurations. Some have a half bath, some offer a connecting room and some are accessible. Regardless of configurations all offer a spacious living/dining room, spectate bedroom, stunning bathroom and killer views. The executive suite is great for couples looking for a bit of extra space (more than a thousand square feet) to spread out, families or those travel on business and need space for work. Club Lounge If you’ve never had the opportunity to experience the Ritz-Carlton Club Level it is an experience to be had. Unfortunately Ritz-Carlton does not offer elite access to the club level so you’ll have to pay for it - Burd it’s worth it. The offerings vary by hotel but this club offers a full hot breakfast, lite lunch mid day, snacks, evening appetizers and desserts, beer and wine all day and evening cocktail service. This is all included in the room rate along with an incredible concierge team. The Hotel The hotel is tranquil, private and offers discrete luxury. Even though the JW Marriott and Ritz-Carlton share a building the experiences can not be anything farther from each other. From the private lobby, to beautiful rooms, to the well equipped fitness center to the tranquil rooftop pool The Ritz-Carlton Los Angeles does not disappoint.

This hotel, which actually its not, is very old and moldy and it feels/smells that way. This place was built in 1880 and it feels that way. Here are the issues with our stay. 1. We weren't told there was going to be a 'DJ' fest going on 2 blocks away at an park that started at 5 pm - 12 am, that the bass was so loud that we were on the 12th floor and it was vibrating the room. Basically like being in a war zone for 6 hours. 2. The lighting in the bath room and shower was like from a Physco movie. Very dim. 3. The connection for the phone was pulled out from the wall and had no cover. 4. The tv was so small about the size of a laptop screen, the beds were so far away had to sit in an uncomfortable chair to watch. 5. The 'Hotel' (again we don't believe it qualifies to hold that name) is centered in 'old' downtown LA, they have to lock the doors at 9 pm. On the street, extreme amount of homeless and not friendly ppl. Not a place I would stay with a family. We have two younger kids 13 & 9 and this was not a place I would recommend staying. 6. The AC didn't work, the 'maintenance' guy came by and said, 'well, yeah I guess its not cooling', said he was going to check and see if they could move us to another room, No such luck as they were booked due to the 'KPOP' concert at crypto.com center. 7. The 'continental breakfast' is a complete joke, they brought like a small 3 tier like tray that had like 2 cold crescent's and a couple of sauces on it. That was it. Most 'continental breakfast's include eggs, cereal, bacon, sausage, etc. 8. We ordered a simple breakfast of eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes. There were only 5 tables occupied in the entire dining area. It took 45 mins to get our bfast and it was disgusting. The pancakes were burnt, the eggs were cold, the sausage tasted like it had been dropped on the floor and rubbed in some kind of cleaner. I stated the same to the server and she came back and the only thing they did right was to 'void' the check. After an hour of waiting and crappy food. McDonalds has a better breakfast than this place. This is by far the worst 'hotel' I've ever stayed at. I've stayed at better hotels in 3rd world countries that are 100 times better than this place. I've been to over 30 countries and this one is the worst ever. The best place I've ever stayed are hotels in Manali Philippines.

I rarely write reviews but I have to tell you that I had a terrible service during check in. The guy who was working at the front desk said that he could not find my reservation and then he said it was canceled. I got panicked and told him that it could never happen cause I have never cancelled the reservation and it is still on my Trip.com app, so it must be your fault (I meant hotel) if it was ever canceled. But he bluntly said that he didn't cancel it and told me to figure it out as if it was my fault. I asked him to talk to someone or check again cause it looked like a system error or something to me, but he told me to go somewhere else cause he needs to greet other customer. I was so scared because it was already after 9PM and I had nowhere else to stay. So I called Trip.com customer center, and the agent was nice and prompt to tackle the issue. In the end, she explained that Trip.com used a vendor to make a booking for the hotel, and the hotel did not know that so they could not pull up my reservation until they got another code. But I think it was partially Trip.com's fault by only sending the reservation code that did not work properly.

Although the hotel is a bit old and the elevators are quite old, the service here is pretty good. For parent-child groups, their attitude is quite friendly, and the bellman and valet staff are very kind. We are also willing to give tips. Bellman is very kind to my children. We push the baby stroller. Bellman first helps me push the baby stroller and then unload all the luggage. This is a human touch not found in other restaurants. I highly recommend family groups. Chinese friends come here to stay.
